Saturday Sit-Down with @jaydogrut

Let’s start off with the basics…

What’s your penname?

jaydogrut

Where do you post most often?

I post on FFN.. I do have a tumblr jaydogrut.tumblr.com and a blog but my fics are on FFN

What’s your favorite pairing? Favorite genre?

Edward/Jasper I love slash lol.

Is there a pairing or genre that you absolutely cannot stand?

Edward and Carlisle. I will tell you though, I did read a great a great E/C fic, but generally it weird’s me out lol.

What got you into the Twilight Fandom? It’s all the hot guys, wasn’t it? Don’t lie.

It was my wife @agrutle and her BFF @obsmama. They got me hooked with the EP and MoTU lol…then I found slash and I was hooked.

What do you find to be the most challenging part about writing your fics?

Keeping readers happy along with telling the story. Sometimes I find that the way I envisioned the story in my head does not work so well when I write it…so I usually write as I go…I let the story talk to me.

Best review you’ve ever received? Worst?

Best..was by a reader that told me I might be the second writer to ever make her cry (hmmmm wonder who that was)

Another Best was ForksPixie, she always leaves AMAZING reviews lol.

Worst-a reader told me that she would not read my fic because of my misuse of commas.

How do you get into the zone? What’s your method for getting the creative juices flowing? Dancing around your living room in nothing but a baseball cap, weird shit like that?

Well, my chapters usually come to me in the shower. I use that time to think of my fics and how I’m going to write it. Also, I like to blare music in my ears (usually the song I’m writing for the JWN chapter)

Do your friends and family in your real life know about your fan fiction alter-ego?

NOOOO If my parents ect…knew that I write and read slash…well they would…idk….explode.

What do you look for in a good fanfic?

It’s the story. There has to be emotion involved. I like to feel what the characters are feelings. Also, I like stories that are not the norm. Surprise me with the story…

Tell us a bit about yourself…

Anything you’d like to share with us? Married, single? Kids? Covert CIA agent? Alaskan crab fisherman?

I am married with a son (11 yrs old). I have been a manager for Wal mart for 10 years.

Spill! What’s you guilty pleasure? I promise not to judge you, as long as it isn’t Justin Bieber.

Justin Bieber is my idol…okay now that I’ve vomited..my guilty pleasure is my affair with me HTC EVO. I am a tech geek and my wife tells me that I’m leaving her for my phone lol.

Do you have a favorite published author? Someone that actually has printed novels with a publishing house, like Stephenie Meyer.

I love books…let’s see….Karen Traviss, Stephen King, Rick Rhoridan, J.K. Rowling.

Favorite musical artist? Anything we should definitely check out?

I love music…except most country and heavy shit that hurts my head (metal). I love Katy Perry’s voice, Linkin Park (LOVE THEM!!)

Time to spread the love…

Who do you drop everything for, including the urn with your great grandmother inside, and run to the computer when you get an update?

Well, I will tell you that Touchstone67 was one of these authors…Now there is a fic that needs some attention. Bluetooth by Malice Slashlover…Amazing fic.

Do you have an author that you fangirl over? And do you squee? I do. Many times.

Well…I don’t fan girl lol…honestly no….I am a very mellow individual.

If you were to break someone into the Twilight Fandom, what fic would you give them to read first?

Um..Let’s see there is Merger’s, How to turn a Straight man Gay, MoTU, EP.

Can you suggest a fic to be recommended on the blog?

Lol…Mentioned above…Bluetooth.

And now for a bit of fun…

Give a shout out to your team!

Stephenie Meyer’s Bella… Strong, independent woman and a role model for all girls, or a sniveling, whiny, spineless twit? And do you that KStew makes a good Bella? Anybody you think could’ve done it better?

I do not care much for Bella. I will tell you the whole depression stage of the books annoyed me lol. I do not think anyone could have done a better job lol. KStew did an amazing job with Bella, just some of the traits that were written for her was annoying. (that must be that guy coming out in me lol.)

Ever imagine yourself in the place of a character in the fics you read? (It’s the lemons, isn’t it? Naughty naughty!)

Honesty, I don’t lol. I would like to experience some of the lemons I read though lmao!

Let’s say that your friends and family don’t know that you write fan fiction. You’re at the office, or the family get together, and someone mentions that they’ve be reading this fan fiction online. As you listen to them recount the details of this story, you realize with growing horror that this is your story! How do you react?

I would run and hide! My family reading slash is a scary thought. However, if it did happen, I think I would run away and hide and my laughter would be very hard to hide. I am imagining my mother reading JWN now LOL!!

Thank you for participating!

Saturday Sit Down with @Bbebar and @UNF4Rob

Alright loves, you came back like I asked and I'm so thrilled! These two ladies are awesome and I can't wait for you to read on and find out a little bit more about them! So without further ado... enjoy!

Let’s start off with the basics…

What are your pennames?
Bbebar
UNF4Rob

Where do you post most often?

Bbebar: I’ve only ever posted on ffn.

Unfie: Fanfiction.net

What’s your favorite pairing?

Bbebar: All of my stories so far have been Edward/Jasper, so they’re definitely a favorite.  However, lately I’ve wanted to read alternative pairings or even pairings in other fandoms *gasp*.

Unfie: My favorite pairing is Edward/Jasper...

Favorite genre?

Bbebar; Slash, slash and more slash.  Did I mention slash? I did? Good, because that’s all I read and write. ;)

Unfie: slash 'nuff said.

Is there a pairing or genre that you absolutely cannot stand?

Bbebar: If there aren’t two peens, I’m not reading it.  So, that eliminates a lot of pairings and genres.

Unfie: I’ve never read a paring that I hated...I'm open to reading any if is good. That is how I stumbled upon slash in the first place.

What got you into the Twilight Fandom? It’s all the hot guys, wasn’t it? Don’t lie.

Bbebar: The hot guys certainly don’t hurt, that’s for sure. I actually discovered fan fic accidentally on twitter. I originally joined to follow twilight fan sites, and I saw someone tweet about reading Wide Awake…the rest is history.

Unfie: Like most others, I read the books...stumbled on the twitterverse while reading about the hot boys...then found fan fic.

What do you find to be the most challenging part about writing your fics?

Bbebar: Honestly just finding the time to write is the most difficult thing. RL is time consuming and must come first. **sighs** lol

Best review you’ve ever received? Worst?

Bbebar: One of the best reviews I’ve received was from @BbEyedGirl, I believe.  She thanked me for writing a positive coming out story in my fic, You Speak to Me, because not everyone’s experience is traumatic. She said something along the lines that some people, once they come out, really do feel as if a weight has been lifted, and they can finally be themselves. I’ll never forget that because it really validated for me Jasper’s journey in that story. As far as worst reviews, I really haven’t gotten any reviews I’d consider awful. Sure, I’ve had the occasional person who didn’t agree with what I’ve done or misunderstood something in the story, but overall I’ve been really lucky.

Unfie: Every single review for AOS and SNM have been wonderful. The love and kindness that every expressed for us and our boys was just amazing, and I was truly blow away. Our following is not huge but such a great group...very supportive. That has made all the difference for me at least, as I dove into this end of FanFic. It was a VERY scary thing for me. Very easy to beta, it is a whole other ballgame on the other end.

How do you get into the zone? What’s your method for getting the creative juices flowing? Dancing around your living room in nothing but a baseball cap, weird shit like that?

Bbebar: Well after that example, I feel like this answer is going to be really boring…lol. I really don’t do anything. If I’m in the zone, I’m in it. I’ve learned, at least for me, there is no point in forcing it.  If the story is in my head, it’s going to come out when it’s ready.  If it’s not coming to me, then I simply wait until it does.

Unfie: My time for writing is limited, hence the drabble-esque format. It is the only format I personally have written in. With that said I still need to be in a good head-space to write, even if it is only 100-200 words. My method... just write and see where it takes me.

Do your friends and family in your real life know about your fanfiction alter-ego?

Bbebar: I have some close friends that know what I do.

Unfie: They have NO clue and I prefer to keep it like that. It is my delicious little secret.

What do you look for in a good fan fic?

Bbebar: Two or more peens (I’m sensing a theme with my answers) , fully developed characters that react honestly, well written and unique plots, a good sense of humor, hot sexytimes, and even a little kink thrown in is nice ;)

Unfie: Depth, realism, and originality. I'm also a lover of the angst...bring it hard.

Tell us a bit about yourself…

Anything you’d like to share with us? Married, single? Kids? Covert CIA agent? Alaskan crab fisherman?

Unfie: Ummm I'm in the CIA #TrueFax

Spill! What’s you guilty pleasure? I promise not to judge you, as long as it isn’t Justin Bieber.

Bbebar:  Hmm…right now I’m on an mpreg fic reading kick, and I’m addicted to sour candy. That count?

Unfie: My guilty is slashy fic...nobody in my RL knows I read it, beta it or write it ;)

Do you have a favorite published author? Someone that actually has printed novels with a publishing house, like Stephenie Meyer.

Bbebar: I have entirely too many to begin trying to name. Right now I’m reading Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin, and  I highly recommend it if you’re into fantasy.

Unfie: Daniel Silva – he writes amazing Spy-Fic....I'm a nerd lol it's my thing.

Favorite musical artist? Anything we should definitely check out?

Bbebar: Again, WAAAAAY too many to name just one. Right now, The Avett Brothers are on repeat on my ipod. They’re amazing.

Unfie: Adele – love her!!!

Time to spread the love…

Who do you drop everything for, including the urn with your great grandmother inside, and run to the computer when you get an update?

Bbebar: Hmm…the most recent one was probably Punk and Perv.

Unfie: Funny thing here is that all the writers that I drop everything for I have ended up being their beta along the way.  *maybe I tweet-stalked them so much they decided it would be easier that way – lol *

Do you have an author that you fangirl over? And do you squee?

Bbebar: I do. Many times.  Oh wow, there are so many amazing authors in this fandom.  Continuing on my last answer, I think Conversed is brilliant, and she totally rocks my socks.

Unfie: Oh yes, I squee. I squee and fangirl over Conversed. I'm proud to call her my friend but I still squee and fangirl all the damn time! It was a true honor to beta for Seventeen Men. Truly that fic will be with me forever and has changed me and how I view Jasper.  She knows how I feel...<3 You my friend.

If you were to break someone into the Twilight Fandom, what fic would you give them to read first?

Bbebar: Oh that’s a hard one. I’d be rec’ing slash, so I’d probably go with something like Twinned (by conversed) or  McFearless (by Teamsmella23) to start with.

Unfie: This would go against my rule of divulging that I not only read it, but write it...NEVER gonna happen.

Can you suggest a fic to be recommended on the blog?

Bbebar: I recently got to know upsidedowntwist a little from twitter. I started reading his WIP, Into You, the other day and read all the chapters that have been posted straight through. He has an amazing gift for unique storytelling.  I haven’t read another fic like his, and he keeps you guessing every chapter.

Unfie: So many amazing fics to rec...I would feel remiss to just list one....So I will tell you what I am reading right now and loving.  . Outside the Bubble » by OvertlyConcealed  & Roads »  by  prassacut  . If you aren't reading you should be!

And now for a bit of fun…

Give a shout out to your team!

Bbebar: Well, of course there is my lovie, Unfie.  She is first of all my friend. But she’s also my talented collab partner and has been my beta since my very first fic. Then there is my amazing twin, carrottop81690.  He gets the job of best friend and pre-reader ;)  I honestly can’t imagine my life without both of them in it.

Unfie: My team...I'm not important enough for a team...But the support I receive from my twitterfamily is lovely.  I'm actually very new to the writing or author scene really and well my team consists of @bbebar <---She is my everything!  #TrueFax

Stephenie Meyer’s Bella… Strong, independent woman and a role model for all girls, or a sniveling, whiny, spineless twit? And do you that KStew makes a good Bella? Any.body you think could’ve done it better?

Bbebar: I kind of think Bella is all of the above, which makes her an average teen-aged girl. I think this was why she is relatable to so many people. I think Kristen did a good job, and I haven’t ever given thought to whether or not someone else could have done it better.

Unfie: Hmmm no comment ;)

Ever imagine yourself in the place of a character in the fics you read? (It’s the lemons, isn’t it? Naughty naughty!)

Bbebar: Well considering I read slash (who me?), that makes it a little more difficult to put myself in the place of a character since I’m a girl with no peen #sadbuttrue lol… However, I quite frequently wish I were in the room with the characters I read about. That is all.

Unfie: Well more like watching  LOL  Since I read 99% slash I'd Love to watch.   Like Rose in TeamBella23 's McFearless. If y'all have not read that fic you need to. That is who I'd like to be...in the room watchin'.

Let’s say that your friends and family don’t know that you write fan fiction. You’re at the office, or the family get together, and someone mentions that they’ve be reading this fanfiction online. As you listen to them recount the details of this story, you realize with growing horror that this is your story! How do you react?

Bbebar: LOL…I suppose how I reacted would totally depend on who the person was. I’d probably just play it cool.

Unfie: Ehhh...I'm sure I'd break-out into a full body sweat, want to vomit and try to act cool.  But I would never blow my cover. Fan Fic is my escape…if that was ever breached...I'd be a VERY unhappy camper.

Thank you for participating!

Saturday Sit-Down with @sushibrat

Let’s start off with the basics…

What’s your penname?
SushilovesWhitlock

Where do you post most often?
Twitter – I'm @sushibrat there

What’s your favorite pairing? Favorite genre?
Jasper and Bella is my fave pairing. As far as genre, I don't have one specific genre that I stick with, I do like stories with substance. I don't always read AH stories either.

Is there a pairing or genre that you absolutely cannot stand?
I am usually not an Edward fan because he has elements that are very similar to the Ex. I wouldn't say I cannot stand AH but I don't always read them. LOL

I haven't read stories where Nessie is one of the main characters either. I just don't think I'd enjoy that.

What got you into the Twilight Fandom? It’s all the hot guys, wasn’t it? Don’t lie.
I started getting into Fanfics because of the way Breaking Dawn was written. It felt like aletdown whereas stories like LOTR and Harry Potter didn't.

As with many folks, I guess, I started with Canon stories and then realized that Jasper and Bella seemed more alike than their respective halves. That is when I discovered Jasper & Bella stories and it went from there.

Last year, I started to beta a few O/S here and there before becoming DarkNNerdy's beta.

I didn't really start writing until this year when we did a collab.

What do you find to be the most challenging part about writing yourfics?

I've been fortunate so far (knocks on wood) that I haven't had many challenges. Bound in Blood has been fun to write and I've written way more than I've posted, LOL.

One of the things I have a problem with is I find myself going back to earlier chapters (ones that haven't been posted) and tweaking them as I continue to write the later chapters.

Best review you’ve ever received? Worst?
The best reviews are ones where the reader will bring up details or something poignant that they noticed in the chapter or even a question. If it doesn't ruin a surprise or anything, I'll gladly answer it.

Worse review? I've had a couple. One left me a review telling me basically that she's quitting my story and then proceeded to go on about how certain things have occurred and that it won't make for a good story because I ruined elements of it. Yeah.... I basically replied back telling her that yes, this might not be her cup of tea and that I've written up to (at that point) chapter 21. What I thought was funny was she reviewed it and said she was quitting and then asked a bunch of questions which I neglected to answer. (evil laugh)

I have a stalker reviewer who disables her PM so I can't even begin to address my (supposed) faults in the story. My story bores her and it is a train wreck but yet she keeps reading it. She is a coward in that respect but (whispers) I think she is just secretly in love with me and watches me as I sleep but I digress.

How do you get into the zone? What’s your method for getting the creative juices flowing? Dancing around your living room in nothing but a baseball cap, weird shit like that?

As I said, this story has pretty much written itself though I'm taking more time in completing a chapter now. There is so much more detail in this story that it is taking more time than before. I guess you can almost say when I'm NOT in the zone.

I've already started with a new story and that is going slower but I'm dedicating more time to Bound in Blood at the same time as I'm nearing the end of the story (cries).

Do your friends and family in your real life know about your fanfiction alter-ego?

Not really unless they follow me on twitter. LOL

What do you look for in a good fanfic?

I like stories that cause me to think or surprise me in some way. My favorite stories are long multi-chapter ones.

Tell us a bit about yourself…

Anything you’d like to share with us? Married, single? Kids?Covert CIA agent?Alaskan crab fisherman?

Divorced nearly a year ago and I have been out here in Texas for almost a year. (shifty eyes) Sure, I am a covert secret agent (giggles). No kids currently an apartment dweller so I have no pets yet either.

Spill! What’s you guilty pleasure? I promise not to judge you, as long as it isn’t Justin Beiber.

Would coffee be considered a guilty pleasure or just a plain addiction because yeah, I am a coffeeholic.

Since moving here to Austin, I've finally got the tats I've wanted for a while but because of the damn Ex, I refrained so that would have to be my other guilty pleasure but I don't think I'll be getting more after this.

Do you have a favorite published author? Someone that actually has printed novels with a publishing house, like Stephanie Meyer.

J.K. Rowling is one of my favorites, I also have enjoyed some Wilbur Smith novels and Clive Cussler ones as well.

Favorite musical artist? Anything we should definitely check out?

Muse, The Black Keys, Jason Aldean just to name a few.

Time to spread the love…

Who do you drop everything for, including the urn with your great grandmother inside, and run to the computer when you get an update?

I just did this when NauticalMass updated Leaves of Grass. I discovered the story late into the game but yeah the last couple times, I dropped everything; even my own writing to read her stuff.

Do you have an author that you fangirl over? And do you squee? I do. Many times.

Well I am absolutely biased but I FLOVE DarkNNerdy not just because she's my wifey either. Her stories and I've read every single one except the one she has on hiatus has managed to evoke some emotion through her words. She's made me laugh and cry and get pissed as hell; the full gamut. So yeah I may not squee but I might get bouncy happy, does that count?

If you were to break someone into the Twilight Fandom, what fic would you give them to read first?

I am biased because I love Jasper & Bella stories so I'd probably recommend that they read Colliding Meteors by IdreamofEddy. That was one of the first stories I read that just WOW'd me and gave me a permanent seat on the Jasper bandwagon.

Can you suggest a fic to be recommended on the blog?

Since I mentioned it earlier, Leaves of Grass by NauticalMass is awesome.

For something a little darker, Pretty Pieces of Flesh by DarkNNerdy is dirty hot.

And now for a bit of fun…

Give a shout out to your team!
Team as in sports? I'd have to say, College football and the Hawkeyes thanks to the former inlaws for getting me hooked on Iowa football.

For my team of fan-fucking-tastic ladies, we have DarkNNerdy who is my constant sounding board and has been very encouraging with me writing. My pre-readers JaspersBella and SparklingFae have been great and then Mynxi has been awesome as beta.

Stephanie Meyer’s Bella… Strong, independent woman and a role model for all girls, or a sniveling, whiny, spineless twit? And do you that KStew makes a good Bella? Anybody you think could’ve done it better?

I personally think SM's Bella was not what you'd call a positive role model. Being a totally different age bracket than what the story was intended to be for, I saw her giving up her idea of marriage just to be with Edward to be flawed. Speaking of flaws, her Bella saw the Cullens as always being perfect which bothered me.

I probably could go on all day about that but I won't. LOL

I think visually, KStew is pretty but I don't think she makes a good Bella. I think the gal who plays Elena in The Vampire Diaries could have been a better Bella but I'm not part of the casting crew.

Ever imagine yourself in the place of a character in the fics you read? (It’s the lemons, isn’t it? Naughty naughty!)
Yeah I do put myself in Bella's place when I am writing Bound in Blood because then I could really do to my Ex what I had Bella do to some of her meals. LOL.

Let’s say that your friends and family don’t know that you write fanfiction. You’re at the office, or the family get together, and someone mentions that they’ve be reading this fanfiction online. As you listen to them recount the details of this story, you realize with growing horror that this is your story! How do you react?

The first thing I'd do is change the wallpaper on my damn phone because it is my Twitter and FanFicAvi LOL. That might be a hint. Other than that, I probably won't say anything given that my current story has dark themes and if you've seen the banner, you'll know that they are human drinkers. :-D

Saturday Sit Down with SweetT129

Let’s start off with the basics…

What’s your penname?

 SweetT129

Where do you post most often?

I post equally at Fanfiction.net and TwiWrite.net. Honestly, I prefer TwiWrite. Did you know you can put pictures in your reviews there? It's epic.

What’s your favorite pairing? Favorite genre?

I love Carlisle/Bella, but only when it's done well, which doesn't happen often enough. I like Jasper/Bella too. I'll read nearly anything though, if it's done well. I've found some pairings that were really cool that I never would have expected, like TheChickNorris's Maria/Vlad series. Lately, I've been experimenting with pairings (or threesomes, in the case of SGH). I want to read something different. That's my favorite lately: different. Unique. Is that a genre? It should be.

Is there a pairing or genre that you absolutely cannot stand?

I don't do much wolf reading, but I'm not opposed to them. Some pairings just gross me out, like Charlie slash or anyone paired with Alec or Jane (because they are pre-teens...ew), but that's just me. I am 100% against Diaperward, Bella the hu-cow, cuddlecocking, vagina salads, and anything else that will give me nightmares. And I will flounce over really bad grammar. That's not really a genre for most people, but it's one for me.

What got you into the Twilight Fandom? It’s all the hot guys, wasn’t it? Don’t lie.

The lady at Barnes & Nobles recommended Twilight for me when I was buying some other books that I swear were in no way related. I bought Twilight and read it for the first time when I was overseas. I liked it, so I bought the others. When I finished Breaking Dawn, I was pissed. Seriously, SM lost her mind. That was garbage. I tried to read some other books, but I couldn't get the Saga out of my head. So I went online and searched, looking for someone to discuss it with, and found Ffn. I never looked back.

What do you find to be the most challenging part about writing your fics?

Finding the time to write them, usually. RL has been insane this past year, as everyone who knows me is well aware. Writing has been a great outlet for me through it, though. Another thing is that I can get my sarcastic inner voice in there, but I think writing comedy is tough – I'm impressed with people who have hilarious fics – like Family Therapy Cullen Style, for example. I could never write that.

Best review you’ve ever received? Worst?

I can't think of one best review, but my favorite ones are the ones that I can tell the reader thought about what I wrote and commented on favorite bits of it. I adore reviews that say that my writing touched them, whether it was making them cry or just touching their heart. The reviews for SGH have been awesome because people have a LOT to say. I love reading them. The compliments I got on Basking... OMG, I squee over those reviews, no joke.
As for the worst, I never really gotten one that was very negative, but I've had some that were really uncomplimentary about the characterization of Bella in SGH, and sometimes I take those personally just because there's so much of me in that Bella. But I get over it quickly.

How do you get into the zone? What’s your method for getting the creative juices flowing? Dancing around your living room in nothing but a baseball cap, weird shit like that?

Oh my god, have you been peeking in my windows?! -runs to close curtains-  Seriously, though, there is almost always music involved. I have playlists that I make to get into certain moods – my lemon playlist, my angry playlist, my emo playlist... etc. I don't think I've ever written without music on.

Do your friends and family in your real life know about your fanfiction alter-ego?

Kind of. My cousin and sister have read my story, and my family all knows that I write... they just don't know what I write. God willing it will stay that way... And pretty much all of my RL friends are friends that I made through the fandom, so I guess you could say my friends all know, lol.

What do you look for in a good fanfic?

Good grammar, interesting plot, and good characterizations. In that order. I am well known for flouncing fics for being a technical mess, but there's a few I've stayed with because they had such amazing stories. It's gotta be damn good to make me overlook the grammar though. And I'm not talking a mistake here and there, I'm talking about a real hot mess. Also, as I mentioned earlier, I want something different. We've been reading and writing for a long time now. I want something new. Oh, and if the fic could make more sense than SM's version, that'd be awesome.

Tell us a bit about yourself…

Anything you’d like to share with us? Married, single? Kids?Covert CIA agent?Alaskan crab fisherman?

I'm 30, I've got 3 awesome daughters, and I got rid of my asshat of a husband last summer. I am in school to get my degree in paralegal, taking literature classes at the same time so that one of these days I can get my Masters in Education and teach High School English.

Spill! What’s you guilty pleasure? I promise not to judge you, as long as it isn’t Justin Beiber.

Guitar. Playing, listening, looking at. I am a total GuitarH00r. I wear the title with pride. I also really reallyreally love shoes. And rum.

Do you have a favorite published author? Someone that actually has printed novels with a publishing house, like Stephanie Meyer.

JK Rowling, probably. Harry Potter is probably the greatest thing I've ever read. Other favorites are Nicholas Sparks, Emily Giffen, Jennifer Weiner, and Jane Austen.

Favorite musical artist? Anything we should definitely check out?

This could be a very long list, you know... I'll try to pick the top faves. The Cure is and always will be at the top for me. There are two unsigned artists that I adore as well, guitarists, of course. Nuno Bettencourt -swoon-,  The Black Keys, Mumford & Sons, Gary Moore, Iron and Wine, Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, 100 Monkeys...

Time to spread the love…

Who do you drop everything for, including the urn with your great grandmother inside, and run to the computer when you get an update?

MerinaGreen – Running and it's sequel, Chaotic Dynamics, are two of the best fics I've ever come across in this fandom. There's also a fic called Bound For Glory that is all kinds of awesome. Those are the only two things that I read regularly right now.

Do you have an author that you fangirl over? And do you squee? I do. Many times.

I've done my fair share of fangirling in my day. The great part is that most of the people I used to fangirl are now among my very best friends. I'd probably dance all over the house if I knew that ninapolitan read my Carlisle fics, or if Naelany was a fan. I won't deny having fangirledNCChris multiple times – I still get excited when she asks me to beta for her, lol. Trampvamp too. Now, this is a good RL friend of mine. Hell, she spooned me last summer (she swears it was the other way around. I say potato/potato)! But the first time I threw back a shot with her and said 1,2,3 fuck it, I totally squee'd. It was ridiculous.

If you were to break someone into the Twilight Fandom, what fic would you give them to read first?

Damn, what's with the impossible questions? LOL.. Um, I'd probably say When Darkness Turns To Light. JannaBanana killed me with that scene in the bar where Jasper parts Bella's knees and steps between them. Fucking swoon.Seriously. I don't think I've ever gotten over that. -fans face-

Can you suggest a fic to be recommended on the blog?

One of the two I mentioned as my drop everything fics, or anything on my faves list.

And now for a bit of fun…

Give a shout out to your team!

I'm Team Carlisle or Team Whitlock.

Stephanie Meyer’s Bella… Strong, independent woman and a role model for all girls, or a sniveling, whiny, spineless twit? And do you that KStewmakes a good Bella? Anybody you think could’ve done it better?

Pathetic, spineless, whiny idiot.Terrible role model. Hey teen girls, go after the boy that controls you and doesn't let you have any friends. Good plan. Oh, and if he takes the engine out of your car to prevent you from making choices, give him a kiss. Clearly he loves you.
-sarcasm font-
K Stew is good as Bella. She's definitely improved – she was way too twitchy in the beginning. She's got the awkwardness down part.

Ever imagine yourself in the place of a character in the fics you read? (It’s the lemons, isn’t it? Naughty naughty!)

Don't we all? I dreamed that scene from When Darkness Turns To Light that I mentioned before for weeks after I read it, obviously with me as Bella.

Let’s say that your friends and family don’t know that you write fanfiction. You’re at the office, or the family get together, and someone mentions that they’ve be reading this fanfiction online. As you listen to them recount the details of this story, you realize with growing horror that this is your story! How do you react?

If it were any of my fics other than SGH, I'm probably play it cool. I wouldn't admit that it was mine to anyone in my family, but probably to someone else. I'd probably have a panic attack if anyone in my family mentioned SGH, because there's a lot of ME in that Bella, and anyone who knows me would recognize that. I'd be panicking that they'd think it was a true story and out me to my mom or something, lol. So yeah, I'd be changing that subject REALLY fast.

Thank you for participating!

Saturday Sit-Down with Edward'sChipper!

Ladies and Gents, meet one of my best friends in the fandom, Chipper! Not only is she a talented woman and writer but she is one of the funniest, kindest and smartest women I have had the pleasure of knowing!

Let’s start off with the basics…

What’s your penname?
EdwardsChipper, or Edward’sChipper, or just Chipper on Twilight. And no, I don’t have an identity crisis.

Where do you post most often?
Twilighted, ff.net, and TwiWrite

What’s your favorite pairing? Favorite genre?
Favorite pairing is Edward and Me, I mean Bella, although I’ve been known to swing Carlisle’s way once or twice. *grins* Genre – dark, historical, dark and historical, oh and throw naughty in there just for kicks.

Is there a pairing or genre that you absolutely cannot stand?
*laughs* Will I get stoned if I answer? I simply can’t stomach Jasper and Alice. There’s no WAY Jasper would’ve gone for that superficial pixie for realz. Nuh uh.

What got you into the Twilight Fandom? It’s all the hot guys, wasn’t it? Don’t lie.
I heard a rumor the sex was easy, so of course…Pffft. Actually, I found it on my own, believe it or not. Two friends and I were writing the trilogy sequel back in ’09, and one of them mentioned the world of fanfic. I’d never even heard of it before then, so I went a-huntin’ and found Twilighted.

What do you find to be the most challenging part about writing your fics?
Uh, writing them? *laughs* No seriously, finding the time to write them. When I first started Second Chances, I knew no one, not one blog, and I’d only heard of Twitter but had no clue what it was. I would forego meals and sleep to write. Then a job change and a promotion threw me for a loop, not to mention my foray into rec’ing and writing features for two blogs, and my utter obsession with Twitter because someone-who-shall-not-be-named suggested I get on it. *quirks a brow at Alexis*

The only other thing is finding what I call “the voice”. It comes down to internalizing my characters. I’ve found that jumping around to write other things, and now having two fics that are polar opposite in tone, not to mention one canon and one not-even-close to canon, I have a tendency to lose that. Often I’ll go back and read a few previous chapters to find it. One time, around chapter 24 or 25 of 2C, I actually went back and read the whole thing. LOL!

Best review you’ve ever received? Worst?
I know it’s going to sound like a load of shit, but I honestly have loved all but one of them. Even though I don’t have a gazillion, my reviewers are fabulous, some are very critical, and that’s why I started this whole adventure in the first place – to see if I could actually write. But there’s was one, not too long ago on Twilighted where I actually said, “Wow” out loud. It’s not like I don’t warn people about 19837019238424 times what’s in Second Chances. The subject is not for everyone. Well this person took her…comments a little too far, even for me. I even PM’d her to ask her to explain further because I really did wanted to understand. It’s the first, and only review I’ve ever deleted.

How do you get into the zone? What’s your method for getting the creative juices flowing? Dancing around your living room in nothing but a baseball cap, weird shit like that?

I’m usually nekkid. *smirks* Cardboardward is ALWAYS within about four feet from me. Mmmhmm. *glances over at mah boy*

I’m very methodical, and it’s the zone that I have to be in order to get it flowing, and it ALWAYS involves classical music on in the background. For some chapters, I actually go out and find new stuff if I need a kickstart, and don’t have it in my personal collection. Right now, my iTunes holds about 350 songs, but my CD collection is even more. I must have music, in some form. Oh, and smokes. Plentiful smokes. I have literally chainsmoked through quite a few chapters in Of Swans and Silence. It’s why I can’t quit smoking right now. lol

Do your friends and family in your real life know about your fanfiction alter-ego?
Most of my friends know I’m writing, only some know what, and only a select few have read it. My family knows, thinks I’m absolutely nuts, and asks me daily why the fuck don’t I write something I can make millions with. As far as I know, they haven’t read any of it. I will fuckin’ die a thousand deaths the day my mother finds OSaS.

What do you look for in a good fanfic?
I don’t look for anything, really, although I do have a penchant for the dark and twisted, and historical Edward. Unf. Most of the time, I judge a fic by whether or not I want to keep reading after the first three or so paragraphs. Oh, and the summary. *rolls eyes* I know they’re difficult to write, hell, I suck at it too. But C’MON peeps, put a little effort into it. If a summary says, “I suck at summaries” or I see a typo in it or the title? Fuck that, I’m movin on. There is SOOOO much good stuff out there just waiting to be found.

Tell us a bit about yourself…

You mean that’s not in my bio? Bleh. I’m so boring. Well, actually I’m not, but I can’t tell you all the shit that makes me cool, cuz then I’d have to kill ya. *laughs*

Anything you’d like to share with us? Married, single? Kids?Covert CIA agent?Alaskan crab fisherman?

Oh, alright. I’m very single and stayin that way. Yes, I curse as much in RL as I seem to do on Twitter and my blog posts. Yes, I say fuck to my mother constantly, and she doesn’t give a damn cuz she knows she can’t change me. My name, Chipper, came from an incredible chipshot I made on my 2nd hole of golf EVER about 12 years ago, and it was given to me by the guys who were on the green when I made it – people I work with still - and I am called it in RL by everyone there. In fact, most people don’t know, even some people in the office, that my real name is Christine. Newbies can never find me on Outlook. *laughs evilly* Cuts down on the shittastic amount of work email I get. *grins* It’s even on my business cards.

I love long walks on the beach; I’m a Sagittarius, and my favorite color is magenta. *wonders if anyone will pick up that movie ref*

Actually, I lied. My favorite color is pink. I don’t care what you may be thinking about it, nor do I care about the irony of a hardass like me loving it. My bedroom is a wonderful ad for PeptoBismal, and any guy who is treated to an evening in it, usually doesn’t give a shit about the color by then. Hmph.

*giggles*

Spill! What’s you guilty pleasure? I promise not to judge you, as long as it isn’t Justin Beiber.

Oh HELL no. No Bieber here. My fingers just cramped up typing his name. Terd.

Hmmm. All my pleasures are guilty. ;) That’s why they’re pleasurable. Dirty Romance novels, Bacardi and Cokes cuz they’re so uncool, getting shitfaced in the city and having to spend the night on a friend’s couch, or, um, elsewhere. Iz all goooood.

Do you have a favorite published author? Someone that actually has printed novels with a publishing house, like Stephanie Meyer.

Not lately, not since Steph. I read what I think is good, what interests me, and that can be just about anyone these days. A while ago, I was really into Judith McNaught. Her early stuff was just phenomenal romance, but I think somewhere along the way she either lost it, or got a ghostwriter, because it’s just not the same.

Favorite musical artist? Anything we should definitely check out?
Sting. I’ve lusted after him since I was 14 and he was in The Police, and I will continue to do so until the day I die. Or he does, whichever comes first. I’m into so many different kinds of music, it just depends on my mood. The other day, I just downloaded Christina Perri, but I also like Red a lot. And Zeppelin. My heart will always belong to Zeppelin. But some days, I like old Michael Jackson – his Off the Wall album. Just gets me going. That, and when I blast Fuck You by Cee Lo when I’m pulling out of the office parking lot. Heeee.

Time to spread the love…

Who do you drop everything for, including the urn with your great grandmother inside, and run to the computer when you get an update?
Gah, I hate this question, and the next one. I haven’t been reading a lot lately, except for the fics I beta and preread for, and whatever fic I’ve found to rec. But GothicTemptress, or GT, simply has the most lyrical writing and beautiful messages in her fics. There once was this fic called A Place To Call Home by this chick Alexis Danaan that I would, but the she hasn’t updated in a while. Anything by her, really, although it usually pains me to read anything by Jasperites. *smirks* JaspersIzzy’s Love My Hate owns me, and not cuz I preread for it. Any crackfic that comes from the fucked mind of HammerHips or givemesomevamp I’d drop a newborn baby for. Of course, I used to for Icy and MoTU and Nolebucgrl’sTaste of Innocence. I sooooo miss Smugward.

Do you have an author that you fangirl over? And do you squee? I do. Many times.
I’ll squee for ANYTHING that captures me, and anyone. If I can’t get enough of the fic, I’m tweeting about it or rec’cing it. Although it irks me to no end when authors get all uppity about shit when their fic gets big, so I don’t squee as often as I used to.

If you were to break someone into the Twilight Fandom, what fic would you give them to read first?
Wow, that’s a good question. I’ve given shoutouts to MoTU to a few people who I know like that sort of thing. I’ve also told a few guys I know about a few of the horror fics that came out last Halloween, especially the ones written by HammerHips and JRRamsey. HammerHips scares the shit outta me sometimes when she gets all bloody and gory.

Can you suggest a fic to be recommended on the blog?
Now, this will not be easy since I know you’re all Jasperites over there, not to mention I have to save a few that I’m actually reading for my own recs. *laughs* but JaspersIzzy is writing two really good ones right now: Release Me and Love My Hate.

And now for a bit of fun…

Give a shout out to your team!
TeamEdward – like that’s some sorta mystery. *snorts* Or am I supposed to say Chicago White Sox here? Bwhahaha!

Stephanie Meyer’s Bella… Strong, independent woman and a role model for all girls, or a sniveling, whiny, spineless twit? And do you that KStew makes a good Bella? Anybody you think could’ve done it better?

Uuuuugh! This just drives me mad. Yeah, Bella’s weak and sniveling, especially in Twilight, but for pete’s sake, what 17-year-old isn’t at that age? Some just hide it better than others. I think SM did an ok job with her, although I hate her in Twilight because I, like most, just want to pound some fucking sense in her. BUT, I would’ve swooned over Edward like a headcase too. *grins* Truth be told, I did, which is why I understand the infamous August, September, October blah, blah blah, and why she did that. At the time, I thought it was genius, because it’s EXACTLY what, um, happened. To someone I know. A friend.Honestly, I could identify with some of it, I’m not going to say what, but whoever says they weren’t insecure and spineless at that age is either lying or too old to remember. I can say that, cuz I’m BEYOND that shit svfm.

Ever imagine yourself in the place of a character in the fics you read? (It’s the lemons, isn’t it? Naughty naughty!)

Like you have to ask…

Let’s say that your friends and family don’t know that you write fanfiction. You’re at the office, or the family get together, and someone mentions that they’ve be reading this fanfiction online. As you listen to them recount the details of this story, you realize with growing horror that this is your story! How do you react?

Well, first, I’d probably turn a bright shade of purple. Then a very wide and mischievous grin would be plastered to my face. Then, I’d wait for them to see it and plead the fifth if they recognized my penname, which some of them could. *laughs*

Thank you for participating!

Thanks for havin’ me!!!
