Magic Monday's Featuring CherylDyson!

What up homies?

This week I bring you an interesting pairing that I have never come across before by an author who has graced this blog with her wonderful presence before!
Knock Three Times by Cheryl Dyson

What I enjoyed the most about this story is that I had no idea what was going to happen. What did happen was not what I had been expecting, to be honest. The second thing that I enjoyed about this story was that it was silly, fun and sexy to boot. If you just want a quick read, something short and light, that won’t have you sobbing into your pillow for hours afterwards, read this baby.

From the author:

When Teddy Lupin is fifteen, he encounters the girl of his dreams, but she barely acknowledges his existence… until seven years later when they meet again. Cross-gen, het, MATURE SEXUAL CONTENT.

Here’s a little taste of the fic…

He sprawled on one of the folding chairs and flipped open the note, trying to choke down the butterflies in his stomach.
Do not knock on my bedroom wall and interrupt my sexual gratification again unless you are willing to take the place of my current paramour. And if you are, knock three times… if you think you have the stamina.
Teddy read the words six times. Merlin. If you think you have the stamina.
He pushed himself to his feet and readied himself for bed. Exhausted though he was, he lay on the mattress and stared at the ceiling, wondering if she now slept on the other side of the wall. He wondered what she wore to bed. If anything. Only last night, she had been… Fuck, some extraordinarily lucky man had been banging her into the wall, causing her to utter those sounds, noises Teddy had heard only in his fevered dreams. He felt a spike of jealousy that hadn't plagued him in years. He wondered what had happened to the blond man she had entertained at Hogwarts on the night she had unwittingly crushed Teddy's heart. Current paramour, she had said, which seemed to deny the presence of anyone permanent in her life.
Bloody hell, how could she stay so amazingly attractive after all this time? She looked exactly as she had when Teddy had first laid eyes on her. The same curves, the dark hair cut in an attractive bob, the same liquid chocolate eyes… Teddy swallowed hard and realised he would have to stay well away from her allure. It would be far too easy to fall prey to her charms and he knew it would only end in heartbreak. His own.
His resolve lasted two days.

Teehee.

Can you guess who the female is yet? No?

Nooo?

Oh, okay. I’ll tell you…

Pansy Parkinson!

Oh, pick your jaw up off the floor and give it a shot! I know that everyone thinks that Pansy is a giant cow (which she is in the canon) but I absolutely adore a fic with a good Pansy in it. I've always pictured her as one of those snarky, sexy, older cougar types and damn, Dyson has that down pat.

Remember to leave Dyson some lovin’ if you enjoy this fic! And as always, email me if you have any suggestions for fics that need to be rec’d at alexis.bookbytescorner@gmail.com!

Saturday Sit-Down with GemmaLisax!

Let’s start off with the basics…

What’s your penname?

GemmaLisaX

Where do you post most often?

I post on both FFn and Twiwrite, but I do have one fic that is exclusive to Twiwrite.

What’s your favorite pairing? Favorite genre?

Favourite paring….gah, that’s a hard one.  I love both Bella/Edward and Bella/Jasper; I’m an equal opportunities kinda gal.  But, I’ve found that I’ll give almost any paring a read.  Writing wise, I find it easier to write Bella/Jasper, but I do have Edward in the mix in my current multi chapter.

Genre wise, I love anything supernatural, not too much angst cause that can get annoying, and humour.  Really, I’m very eclectic in my tastes, and it depends on my mood at the time.

Is there a pairing or genre that you absolutely cannot stand?

Fluff…I hate fluff.  Yes I love a happy ending, but when it’s all saccharine sweet, I can barely stand it.  Paring I hate….well, I don’t hate it, but I have never and likely will never, read a Jasper/Alice fic.  Don’t know why, well I do, it’s cause I’m really not a fan of Alice and love Jasper with Bella.

What got you into the Twilight Fandom? It’s all the hot guys, wasn’t it? Don’t lie.

LMTO!  Actually, it was my sister that got me into the fandom, the hot guys that kept me there, the Darkest Temptations blog that gave me the inspiration and Mynxi that ordered me to just write, Stitchcat that dragged me onto Twitter and me writing about period sex that got me my wifey <grins>

But, I gotta say, reading and writing about hot guys all the time….really not a chore <sighs and tries not to drool>

What do you find to be the most challenging part about writing your fics?

Not rushing the plot.  I have the first scene in my mind, and another one further down the road, my biggest challenge is making sure that I don’t rush to get there.  Recently, that’s ended up giving me writers block, and it’s really frustrating.

Best review you’ve ever received? Worst?

Best review?  Wow, I wouldn’t know where to start with that, people have been so generous in there reviews there’s no way that I can single one out.  I like the ones where the reader is so shocked they’re speechless, that always makes me laugh.  Then there have been a few that have reviewed every single chapter with a wonderfully descriptive review, and they’re just amazing to read.

I’m pretty damn proud (and more than a little relieved and thankful), that I’ve only ever had one negative review.  While it was aggressive and tactless, her problem was that she found the chapter to be confusing and thought that I was going to have Bella getting and staying with the bad guy. <shrugs> can’t please everyone, LOL.

How do you get into the zone? What’s your method for getting the creative juices flowing? Dancing around your living room in nothing but a baseball cap, weird shit like that?

Actually, lol, I do dance around my living room!  But that’s another story, and I don’t bother with a baseball cap <winks>. I pretty much wait till the kids go to bed, put something appropriate on TV or play some mood relevant music and pray to anyone that I can think of that I can think of something.  Really, most of my pings of inspiration come while I’m outside sneaking a cig.  Pretty boring really, I don’t have a pre-writing ritual or sacrifice chickens for a plot.  Though I have been tempted in the past.

Do your friends and family in your real life know about your fanfiction alter-ego?

They do, and they all think I’m batty and entirely too obsessed.  Thanks to my interfering Ex, my mum even staged an intervention a few months ago.  I kid you not, I was sat down and told that I was very loved and that this was about nothing but support and then informed that they were worried about the time I spend on and within the fandom.  <facepalm> Suffice to say, I keep it on the down low most of the time now.

What do you look for in a good fanfic?

Well written originality, character depth and a good plot.  I love to find and read something different, either a completely different take on the whole thing or some fantastic twist that takes me completely by surprise.  And I love to laugh, so a fic that makes me laugh is always a winner.

Tell us a bit about yourself…

Anything you’d like to share with us? Married, single? Kids? Covert CIA agent? Alaskan crab fisherman?

All of the above, LOL.  Though I retired from the crab fishing last year, instead I’m trying my hand at anaconda wrestling in the Amazon; I’m hoping that it provides some inspiration.

LOL

In reality, I’m single with two kids and a life that’s given way to my fandom obsession.  I smoke too much, don’t drink enough and get withdrawal symptoms if I’m away from my wifey for too long. Love you, Chick! MWAH.

Spill! What’s you guilty pleasure? I promise not to judge you, as long as it isn’t Justin Beiber.

Oh, sweet baby Jesus…it is definitely NOT Justin Beiber <shudders>.  My guilty pleasure?  I’m worried that the first thing that came to mind is Wolf Fics…I’m desperately trying to think of something in the RL, but it ain’t happening.  But, I have an unhealthy obsession with Paul <shivers in delight>

Do you have a favorite published author? Someone that actually has printed novels with a publishing house, like Stephanie Meyer.

No, lol, not just one fave.  I have a ton of authors that I will always buy their books, mostly supernatural and crime.  Anything that I can escape into really.

Favorite musical artist? Anything we should definitely check out?

Wifey just introduced me to Dave Mathews, and while my music taste is as eclectic as my taste for what I read, this guy always gets me.  I love listening to his songs, they’re simply fantastic.

Time to spread the love…

Who do you drop everything for, including the urn with your great grandmother inside, and run to the computer when you get an update?

Conversations With my Killer by OracleVas owns me completely.  Nothing stands in my way when that fic is updated, LOL.

Do you have an author that you fangirl over? And do you squee? I do. Many times.

Who don’t I fangirl over?  Seriously, I think I have a fangirl problem, maybe I should start Fangirl Anonymous.

If you were to break someone into the Twilight Fandom, what fic would you give them to read first?

That depends on what team they’re shouting for, lol.  If they’re a Jasper girl then I would send them over to Idreamofeddy’s account and tell them to jump straight in.  For anyone that loves Edward, then I would have to trawl through my faves list.

Can you suggest a fic to be recommended on the blog?

I think I’ll have to go with TheOneMama’s debut fic.  She’s just starting out, as you know, and has written a beautiful one shot, soon to be multi chapter, that really captured me when I read it.

And now for a bit of fun…

Give a shout out to your team!

TeamWhitlock!  BUT…I’m for aaaaaall the Twilight men, lol, all the vamps anyways.  And Paul <grins> can’t forget Paul.

Stephanie Meyer’s Bella… Strong, independent woman and a role model for all girls, or a sniveling, whiny, spineless twit? And do you that KStew makes a good Bella? Anybody you think could’ve done it better?

You know, I love Bella.  She’s my favourite character in the series, I really connected to her while I was reading and I’ve never understood why people think she’s spineless.  Yes she deferred to Edward sometimes, but most of the she stood up for herself and even connected the dots before the vamps did.

As for KStew as Bella, I keep switching back and forth on that one.  Personally, I think the films make her out to be spineless, and she NEVER smiles.  They were all smiles and goo goo eyes, but that rarely comes across in the films, Eclispe got somewhere near it, but barely.  There are times that I like her and others when I want to smack her and jump on Edward myself…alright, so that’s less about not liking KStew and more about wanting Edward.

Ever imagine yourself in the place of a character in the fics you read? (It’s the lemons, isn’t it? Naughty naughty!)

<shifty eyes> The lemons?  No, of course not.  <coughs>  Yeah, I do actually.  I do that with anything that I read/watch, I do it with my own fics as well.  In fact, it’s what helps me most when I’m writing.  Personally, I think that when a story really grabs you, you can’t help but imagine yourself in their place.

Let’s say that your friends and family don’t know that you write fanfiction. You’re at the office, or the family get together, and someone mentions that they’ve be reading this fanfiction online. As you listen to them recount the details of this story, you realize with growing horror that this is your story! How do you react?

Oh shit, it would depend on what they thought about the story, LOL.  And which story it was.  If they were talking about Spontaneous Combustion, which is poorly disguised smut, I’d die of embarrassment.

Thank you for participating!

Friday Night Slash: The Path to Absolution by @rmhaleff

Hey peeps! It's Friday again which means it's time for another edition of Friday Night Slash!

Now anyone who knows me, knows that I am absolutely in love with rmhale and her work. She's fabulous and crazy talented and her stories are so amazing to read! She wrote this o/s called A Kiss Before I Say Goodbye which was a J/E story about how they were in love with each other but Edward felt a sense duty to his family and he ended up marrying Jessica. They spent one last night together and Edward left in the morning.

The Path to Absolution is about Edward's journey to get Jasper back. It's a Fandom Gives Back piece and it's amazing! I really really don't want to spoil any of this fabulous story for you but I can absolutely promise that you will love it! But basically Edward leaves his wife and goes off to search for Jasper and try to make his amends. Jasper isn't easy on Edward and makes him work for it... take my word for it! It's fabulous!

Until next week my favorite slash h00rs!

xoxo

“In Omne Tempus” by La Vita Nuova

Yee! I’ve got another fic from the amazing LaVitaNuova for you to sink your teeth into! So go lounge out on the porch with your favorite sunglasses (or hottie ;D) and a glass of lemonade, cause In Omne Tempus is a wolf pack fic, and those boys are H-O-T! This story is a Bella/Jared pairing, and it doesn’t ruin the dynamics or make you wonder what the hell is going on. This story starts off with Bella living with the Cullen’s after Charlie died in a car wreck shortly after graduation. While the Cullen’s are out one weekend, Bella decides to head down to La Push to hang out with Jake.

I plastered a big smile on my face and was pleased to see that Jake didn't read too much into it. Instead he threw his big arm over my small shoulders and led me away to the table. I could hear him throw out names of food at me but my concentration was shot. Instead I thrust my plastic cup at him only to be met with a guffaw

"Ok Bells, but if the bloodsucker asks this was all you"

I nodded as he filled up my cup again with beer. Happy to have something to do with my hands I held it tightly with both. I watched distractedly as Jake threw endless amounts of food on two plates and then thrust one at me. For the next hour I sat silently next to Jake, occasionally chancing glances around the group. All in all no one seemed to be paying me much attention, besides Emily who every time our eyes met offered me the softest of smiles.

Feeling the strange tensions from earlier slip away from me I stood and walked away from the group. The stories had inevitably made their way around to the Cullens and other Vampires the pack had encountered. Feeling uneasy with the conversation I walked down to the edge of the beach but feeling too cold to stop and sit I walked along the edge of the water line.
"Do you mind if I walk with you?"

I turned around to see Jared walking slowly to me from behind. Not wanting to be rude I nodded and he fell instep beside me. I watched as our feet moved in synchronization with one another.

"I've heard a lot about you"

"What have you heard?"

I wanted to stop, to see his face when he answered but I didn't, I kept my feet moving and my eyes trained down

"That you live with the Cullens"

I didn't say anything, I simply waited for the next words which were inevitable

"That you're engaged to one of them"

We had reached the rocks at the end of the beach. I turned to look back the way we had walked and saw the bonfire in the distance the sounds of echoing laughter cut through the air. I didn't move to walk back though, instead I looked up to see Jared staring at me. His eyes asking me a question that he had yet to bring alive in the night air

"Is it true?"

I nodded, not trusting my voice for some reason

"Do you love him?"

I opened my mouth to tell him just how much I loved Edward, to make him understand, but I couldn't. Looking up into his eyes I couldn't speak the words that until five seconds ago I had known in my gut to be completely infallible.
"I…."

Jared was looking back at me with intensity in his eyes and in that moment everything that I had known, believed, fought and lived for was not longer a certainty to me. I couldn't answer his question because I no longer knew.

With Bella questioning her love for Edward, She decides to move back into Charlie’s to re-evaluate her life and the choices she’s made. After weeks of hiding out in Charlie’s, she finally leaves the house and runs into Leah. Leah takes Bella home and starts a routine of checking up on her every day. For two months their routine continues, until Leah drags her out of the house to a housewarming party for Jared.

Things get interesting between Bella and Jared, but they both refuse to acknowledge the imprint, and Bella is still struggles with her decision with Edward. After Bella and Jake get in a fight, he runs away and meets his imprint, but gets in an accident on his way home. Carlisle fixes him up and Bella finally has a heart-to-heart with Edward. Victoria makes her presence known, and causes some problems in La Push.

The unusual circumstances of Bella and Jared’s relationship cause some problems for the pair, but they pull through strong. Through the good times and bad, these two make a wonderful couple. This story ends with a happily ever after that’ll make your heart sing.

So grab a drink and enjoy!

Saturday Sit-Down with forthelongestday!

Holla homies!
I had the pleasure of speaking with forthelongestday and after our brief email correspondence, I'm pretty sure that this girl has mad issues (in the best possible way). You tell me, read onward brave souls!

Let’s start off with the basics…

What’s your penname?

forthelongestday. I'm still incredibly irritated that twitter forced me to eliminate a letter and I have to be frthelongestday over there. It drives me crazy enough that I almost change my penname on FF.net and Twiwrite at least once every other day.

Where do you post most often?

FF.net and Twiwrite, though if FF.net doesn't fix the freaking review replies that's going to be changing soon. <--I'm trying to ease you into my potty-mouth here.

What’s your favorite pairing? Favorite genre?

I'm a sucker for Jasper/Bella. Generally I prefer fics with some funnies in them, but if it's good, I'll read pretty much anything. Oddly enough, I usually don't like reading angst...but I sure as hell love to write it.

Is there a pairing or genre that you absolutely cannot stand?

Not really. There are certain pairings that I think are weird in the canon universe, but to each their own. Besides, there's AU for a reason, and that reason is to make all the characters do the dirty with each other in a semi-plausible way. ;-)

What got you into the Twilight Fandom? It’s all the hot guys, wasn’t it? Don’t lie.

I may or may not have been making fun of Breaking Dawn on the Amazon message boards when someone sent out a link to Midnight Desire by Twilightzoner. It was all downhill from there.

What do you find to be the most challenging part about writing your fics?

Remembering what the difference between 'it's' and 'its' is. Also lemons. Lemons are hard. (Pun intended)

Best review you’ve ever received? Worst?

The Black Crow leaves some awesome reviews. I love hearing from her, she always goes into so much detail, and she's not afraid to say what she finds confusing. I think my beta feels a little threatened by her...

Worst? That's a tough one, because I haven't gotten many bad reviews *fingers crossed*, and because I don't really think I should get to whine about them because I am the worst review replier/reviewer at all ever (I'm working on that). The worst one I've gotten was probably back when I was doing Long Way Down, and someone made a comment about how I needed to get a move on the sexy times, because she deserved a lemon after reading so much of my fic. I was like: o_O. Seriously? I almost threw in a shit-ton of angst and delayed the smexxy, just because I could. One of my pre-readers had to talk me out of it.

How do you get into the zone? What’s your method for getting the creative juices flowing? Dancing around your living room in nothing but a baseball cap, weird shit like that?

Lately I've been bitching on twitter until THEChickNorris bombs me with the 'Lemon of Doom'. Under normal circumstances I'll go through and edit chapters that need to go to the beta and switch back and forth between that and what I'm working on. Eventually I get into the groove.

Do your friends and family in your real life know about your fanfiction alter-ego?

Nope, and it's gonna stay that way.

What do you look for in a good fanfic?

Plot and character development. I need my fictional characters to have some growth and some flaws, otherwise I have trouble keeping interest, and I have to admit that if there's bazillions of typos and horrible grammar I usually can't stand it.

Tell us a bit about yourself…

My ass is kind of falling asleep right now. Wait...that's probably not what you meant...

Anything you’d like to share with us? Married, single? Kids? Covert CIA agent? Alaskan crab fisherman?

Single, no kids. I live alone, and I very, very much prefer it that way. I don't really want any kids of my own, but I do like to borrow my friends' children, get them all hopped up on sugar, and teach them funny things to say, like “Mother, your argument is unnecessary and pointless because green beans are the bane of my existence and I will not eat them.” My friends hate me sometimes. :-)

Spill! What’s your guilty pleasure? I promise not to judge you, as long as it isn’t Justin Beiber.

Obviously it's fanfic...lol.

Do you have a favorite published author? Someone that actually has printed novels with a publishing house, like Stephanie Meyer.

Making me choose a favorite author is just cruel. Currently I'm riding a Charlaine Harris high though.

Favorite musical artist? Anything we should definitely check out?

Nope, can't choose. I've written and deleted about ten responses to this question, and I've decided it's impossible to answer.

Time to spread the love…

I love it when you talk dirty to me ;-)

Who do you drop everything for, including the urn with your great grandmother inside, and run to the computer when you get an update?

Sleep on the Floor by sexycereal and Bound For Glory by jandco & wtvoc.

Do you have an author that you fangirl over? And do you squee? I do. Many times.

There are LOTS of authors that I fangirl over, but I'm kind of shy, so I never really say anything. I don't even know how to answer this without feeling awful later for leaving someone out. Off the top of my (very outdated) head we're going to go with Chicklette, LJ Summers, ElleCC, Merina Green, Bratty-Vamp, dryler, hunterhunting.... jandco & wtvoc... Somebody should probably stop me now.

If you were to break someone into the Twilight Fandom, what fic would you give them to read first?

I think it would depend on exactly why they're interested in reading fanfic to begin with. If they were looking to kind of poke fun at Twilight I'd send them over to Midnight Desire. If they were open to something non-canon I'd aim them toward A Murmur of Fire in the Vein by ElleCC or The Hardest Part by LJ Summers. If they wanted gratuitous smut I'd tell them to hit up...well, I'd probably have to give them a list.

Can you suggest a fic to be recommended on the blog?

Sleep On The Floor owns my soul right now, and Aerobee82 just started posting Antiques Roadshow, which is looking like it's going to be really good. Oooh, and she just updated. I think I need to amend one of my earlier answers, cause poor Grandma just did a face-plant on the floor.

Why do I feel like I'm going to get flogged because all I'm reading right now is AH Edward fics? Eek.

And now for a bit of fun…

YAY!

Give a shout out to your team!

SweeneyAnne – You are the most fuck-awesome beta I could ever ask for. I heart you hard, and I secretly love that you don't talk to anybody else in the fandom, because that means I don't have to share. ;-)

GemmaLisaX – Dear Lord I feel so bad for neglecting you. Lol. You make me squee and giggle, and I promise that if I write another fic (who are we kidding, I probably will) I will not forget to be like “Hey, gal! Wanna pre-read? You already have access to the folder!”

THEChickNorris – I need more porn.

Stephanie Meyer’s Bella… Strong, independent woman and a role model for all girls, or a sniveling, whiny, spineless twit? And do you that KStew makes a good Bella? Anybody you think could’ve done it better?

I have so many issues with canon Bella that I can't even begin to list them all.

I would have liked to see Alexis Bledel cast in the movies, but I don't have any huge issues with KStew, you know, other than the fact that I was pretty sure she was a horrible actress until I saw The Runaways.

Ever imagine yourself in the place of a character in the fics you read? (It’s the lemons, isn’t it? Naughty naughty!)

Hehehehe....maybe...

Let’s say that your friends and family don’t know that you write fanfiction. You’re at the office, or the family get together, and someone mentions that they’ve be reading this fanfiction online. As you listen to them recount the details of this story, you realize with growing horror that this is your story! How do you react?

I would probably stare in complete horror and turn unhealthy shades of red until they realized that I was the one who wrote it. Then I would spontaneously combust. On purpose.

~fin.

As always, don't forget to check out forthelongestday's profile and leave her some love if you enjoy her stories! If I may be so bold and--let's be honest here--I am always 'so bold', I highly suggest you check out The Long Way Down, it's complete!

Friday Night Slash: A Tale of Two Cities by @TruceOver

Boy time flies when you have a billion things a week to do, huh? Thank fuck for Friday Night Slash!
I was asking around to a couple of my trusty slash h00rs for some recs so I could give y’all the best and one of them (MizzHyde) mentioned a fic by TruceOver called A Tale of Two Cities…
Now mind you, I recc’d her a couple weeks ago here with her fic Sexurity Checkpoint, that hot little Riley/James airport fic, remember? Well I was hesitant to start at first because it’s sixteen chapters in and really I don’t have time to catch up on a long stories right now, but I trust my bitches and so I pulled up the first chapter, thinking if I read a few chapters a day I might be done with it in a week or so…
Three hours later I’m all caught up, I’ve missed my nap and I’m craving more! I devoured this fic and I am not-so-patiently waiting for another chapter!
Emmett owns a chain of sporting goods stores and makes a weekly trip to Seattle from Portland to run that branch. One day he runs right into the back of Edward and is instantly dazzled by him and immediately starts following him.
Coincidence has it, Edward ends up on the same flight as Emmett and he spends the whole thing trying to figure out how to talk to him… So much so that when he loses him getting off the plane he practically bowls over people to chase after him. He’s goes crazy stalker and follows him to his hotel, checks in there too and talks to him at the elevator, asking him to get a drink where Edward turns him down.
Talk about poor Emmett until you get to Edward’s POV a few chapters later and find out why he does it.
It’s a story about two boys and their journey together. How they come to be together and how they have to work to make it work. Each boy has some secrets but they seem to be a match made in Heaven!
There have been some bumps and curves along the way and it’s looking like there will be some more bumps to get over coming up in the next chapters but with any luck, they will end up together and happy, because if you read the story, you will see the connection and how they are willing to do almost anything for each other! It’s heartwarming and almost overwhelming at points, their connection to each other!
Here’s a sneak peek into the crazy the Em turns into during the first chapter when he goes stalker on Edward!
XXXXXX

I've lost him.

My heart sinks and I berate myself for not being smarter, for not making sure that we spoke again before he leaves. Out of the corner of my eye I see a shock of deep bronze hair poking out above the other people making their way towards ground transportation. I run after him, trying not to make a scene.

I reach the curb just as his cab drives away. I pause for just a moment, realizing that if I'm already acting this crazy I might as well go all the way.

I hop into the next cab with my bags and point towards the cab that Mr. Serious is in.

"I need you to follow that cab!" I yell as I lean forward, willing the driver to take off speeding.

Instead of moving the driver turns around and rolls his eyes in a what-the-hell-is-wrong-with-you kind of way.

"Come on man!" I pull out my wallet and fling sixty bucks down on the seat next to him. He shrugs and shakes his head, but pulls away from the curb screeching.

I try to relax a bit more as we follow the other cab. At least he is in sight now. I feel my phone buzz in my pocket and I realize that I had been too distracted to even turn it off for the short flight.

I groan, but answer the phone anyway – she won't give up.

"Rose," I snap into the phone.

"What the hell is your problem?" she yells back.

"I'm busy."

"Doing what?" she asks, and I can tell that she's curious.

"Being a crazy stalker." I might as well tell the truth, as my best friend she'll find out eventually.

"Who are you stalking?" she demands.

"A guy I met on the plane."

"Don't make me beat it out of you Emmett. Tell me everything."

I know there was no point in fighting it. My eyes remain fixed on the cab in front of me, never leaving the back of his head.

"I don't know his name. He's traveling for business. He has a nice phone and he has big feet."

I hear Rose's laugh coming out over the phone. "That's all you know? You don't even know his name? And you're stalking him?" Her laughter is so loud I have to hold the phone away from my ear.

"Be careful, Rose or you'll pee yourself," I bark back. I know that I'm acting crazy; I don't need Rose to give me a hard time about it.

I watch as the other cab pulls off the freeway and my cab follows.

"I gotta go."

"Don't get arrested you stalker."

"Very funny," I snap and end the call.

Both cabs pull up to the roundabout in front of a hotel. I pull out another twenty and threw it at the cab driver with mumbled thanks.

I follow the stranger as he goes up to the counter to check in. I do the same, letting the young man working there know that I don't have a reservation. At some point I feel his green eyes on me and I glance up just as I take my room key from the employee.

Mr. Serious gives me a curious look and walks towards the elevators, wearily looking at me out of the corner of his eye.

I move to stand next to him and grin.

"What a coincidence huh?" I smile my most innocent I-swear-I'm-not-crazy smile.

"Yeah..." he mutters as the doors open and we step on.

XXXXXX

Alrighty, there you have it! Don’t you love Emmett already? (I’ve been seriously craving some slashy Emmett these days and TruceOver and Conversed both helped me out in that fashion and I’ve got another great rec for you for next week!)
Well, that’s it my loves and I hope you enjoy! Please don’t forget to review!
Also, if you have a story you want to see recc’d on the blog, feel free to email me at mel.bookbytescorner@gmail.com and I’ll do my best to get it done!
Until next week my loves,
Xoxo

"The Orbititng Meteor" by IdreamofEddy

Well, well, well, I do believe I’ve got another good one for you this week lovelies! The fabulous Miss IdreamofEddy wrote an awesome story called The Orbiting Meteor. If you have yet to read this story, I suggest you drop everything and rush to the nearest computer and start reading now! This is the first Bella/Peter fic rec’d on the blog, and it is a spectacular work.

What she didn't know was that her truck had actually been killed by the man who was watching her now, and he knew she had traveled long enough. She was already in the vicinity of his first home. He also knew that she would love Santa Fe, as well as the warm sun that would hit her face three hundred twenty days a year on the average.

Bella made her decision when she was going through the want ads trying to find another car. She found a listing for a new sports department store that was hiring workers at eight bucks an hour. She could live on that, find a small apartment, and work to forget her problems while at the same time save a little money for school. She, of course, found the shittiest apartment imaginable, and in the poorest of neighborhoods. He knew she would be safe, but he watched her anyway. At this point, there was nothing left for him to do but just wait and give her time to heal.

On the patio, Bella's eyelids snapped open and she stretched. She needed to eat something before heading in to work. She picked up the card from where it had fallen and walked out to the edge of the patio, sliding her feet out of her furry flip-flops and stepping onto the cool grass.

The man watching her loved it when she did this - it always made him smile. She would always close her eyes and just stand there so quietly, with the sun warming her face, and all the distinct colors of red and brown shining through her hair.

Bella opened her eyes and something flashed out of the left corner of her eye. There was an instant frown and she quickly turned to find the culprit. It was just enough time for her heart to jump, panic was something she felt quick these days. Her garden globe sat to her left in the little miniature garden area she would plant this year with tomatoes and radishes. The sun was reflecting off the green globe, and Bella smiled. She turned around to retrieve her flip-flops, and then walked into the house.

She only had an hour or so before she had to head in, and the man watching her needed to go home and collect his thoughts. He was excited because this was the night when her eyes would truly meet his. He wanted to look good - not that he had to try too hard.

This was the night when fate would finally make itself known to Bella Swan, and he really couldn't wait. He had waited long enough. Part of him dreaded it - only because of her response. But, in time, that would work itself out, so he didn't need to worry. He was thrilled that her eyes would find him, and he really couldn't wait to see her in that outfit.

Bella's life was about to change again, and fate would find its way into her heart - forever. They both just had to put some effort into it.

Little did he know, that fate had changed its plans.

Peter and his all-knowing ways have led him to Bella after the death of his first mate, Charlotte. He has been keeping an eye on Bella since the day she was born, watching over her from the shadows. When Bella finally leaves home to strike out on her own, fate (and Peter) conspires to settle her in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Peter has been receiving his flashes of Bella’s future since she was born, writing it all down and making sure she stays on the right path.

When Bella and Peter meet, Bella is less than thrilled to meet him, completely unaware of his intentions. She warms up to him and they start to get closer, dealing with life as it comes at them. After a crazy few weeks and a visitor from Forks, things take a turn for the worse when Maria kidnaps Bella. Peter, with the help of some friends goes and takes care of Maria and her army of newborns.

This story has a great plot, and rich storytelling; you won’t be disappointed if you decide to take the time and read this fic. AN amazing story, and an equally amazing author. So drop what you’re doing and get your rear to the closest computer and give this fic a read!

So grab a drink and enjoy!

Magic Monday's featuring AkashaTheKitty!

What’s shakin’ peeps?

For this week’s Magic Monday I bring you something a little darker than what we’ve been looking at before.

I have to warn you that this fic deals with some dark themes like imprisonment, non-consensual sex, and violence. It is definitely an 18 and over fic. If any of these are issues for you, do NOT read this story! I am dead serious. Do not come to me and whine about how it was a bad rec because you didn’t like the dark themes. You’ve been warned.

Okay, moving on.

Master by AkashaTheKitty

What I love about this fic is that even though I’m dreading the ending, I have a small amount of hope and it drives me to finish it. I won’t tell you if that hope is fulfilled or not, that would ruin the surprise ;)

From the author...

The war drags on and Hermione Granger is caught and raped in what seems to be a public ritual raping by her old enemy Draco Malfoy. But why did he cut his hand and claim to the others that she was a virgin? AU, Rape, Humiliation, ONESHOT!

Here’s a taste of the fic....

He led her to a room that seemed to be near the kitchens. It was a nice room. It had an actual bed with actual pillows and blankets and the floor had actual carpets, and there was an actual lamp on the bed stand… "You will live here," he informed her, and her heart sank as she noticed that the bed was queen-size. She was probably required to work there too. She pushed those thoughts away. She hadn't slept in a real bed for so long it was almost worth it. Almost.

He looked her up and down. "Bathe," he said, with a slight look of distaste. Hermione almost blushed but then looked him defiantly in the eyes – or she would have if he had still been looking at her. It wasn't as if she had had any possibility of a real bath since she was captured, all she got was a Scourgify before she was dragged out to be raped and she really hadn't cared if she was pleasing then or not. She hoped she hadn't been.

He turned and left the room, opening a door on his right. "In here." He certainly didn't waste a lot of words on her, did he? She reluctantly followed to look around him and saw a bathroom with a nice, big tub. Her eyes grew round. A bathtub and a bed? She vaguely remembered a time when such comforts hadn't impressed her. That was before.

Again, he had started to walk away, but this time he stopped as he for the first time noticed the house elf that had appeared a few feet away. His eyes turned steely but other than that there was no change in him. "Feed her," he said to it. "Use force if necessary." And then he left.

There’s only one thing about this fic that I don’t like...

There is no NEXT BUTTON AT THE END!!!

Gah!

Remember, as always, you can email me at alexis.bookbytescorner@gmail.com to suggest stories to be recommended! Finally, don’t forget to leave Akasha some love if you enjoyed this story and check out some of her many other fics!

Saturday Sit-Down with @coachlady12

Mel here and today I bring you my interview with the fabulous Coachlady1! Be sure to check out her stuff as she is an amazing author, a wonderful friend, and the funniest damn woman you could ever meet!

Let’s start off with the basics…

What’s your penname?

coachlady1 on FF.net and Twilighted & coachlady12 on Twitter

Where do you post most often?

FF ‘cause you can just post & not wait on a beta!

What’s your favorite pairing? Favorite genre?

Edward/Bella I know, I know. AH almost always

Is there a pairing or genre that you absolutely cannot stand?

Not really. It’s not that I can’t stand something, I mean, I appreciate what anyone does with the characters & genres, but if it doesn’t pull me in right away, that’s all she wrote (so to speak) ha

What got you into the Twilight Fandom? It’s all the hot guys, wasn’t it? Don’t lie.

Hey, I won’t lie about the hot guys! A student came up to me in the spring of 2007 telling me about Twilight and how good it was. I remember going to a movie later and seeing a poster for Twilight and remembered it was the book she’d told me about. I even told her about it, but she wasn’t as ga-ga about the books anymore. Long story short, I saw Twi in Walmart during the summer & bought it and was hooked.

What do you find to be the most challenging part about writing your fics?

Probably sticking to the original plot. I’ll write out an outline, but as the story unfolds, I find myself changing things because that’s just what I’m being told to do… by whom, I have no idea *cue eerie music*

Best review you’ve ever received? Worst?

Well, sparkledamnu leaves the most awesome reviews ever! She’s so encouraging that I feel like I could build a small city with my bare hands after I read what she has to say lol And, of course, Mel is always stroking my ego, but I’m pretty sure it’s ‘cause she’s my bestie : )
Worst? I wrote a o/s and had a woman tell me my Edward was totally ridiculous & that was it. I wrote back wanting her to explain because I do like being critiqued ‘cause I want to get better, but she had nothing to back it up. After reading her FF profile, I decided she was just a haggard old bitch *shrugs*

How do you get into the zone? What’s your method for getting the creative juices flowing? Dancing around your living room in nothing but a baseball cap, weird shit like that?

Ha, yep, dancing w/ the bball cap is it! (have you been spying on me?) Nah, I’m constantly thinking in the back of my head about the story I’m writing at the time, thinking of what should happen, etc. Then I just sit down & type it out. If it’s good, great. If not, “deleted!”

Do your friends and family in your real life know about your fanfiction alter-ego?

Oh, hell no! I’m the baby of two sisters and they’d crucify me, I think, if they knew the stuff I wrote! My 13 yo daughter and 22 yo son know, but they don’t know about the lemons. Well, they KNOW, they just don’t KNOW ha The only friends who know are the ones I’ve met through FF or Twitter & they write, too, so we could easily blackmail each other with our stories.

What do you look for in a good fanfic?

I like when the characters are real and I come to care for them. If I find myself thinking about them during the day, that’s a very good thing. Hot schmexin’ seems to help, too O-O

Tell us a bit about yourself…

Single mom, divorced twice (I married twin assholes, me thinks) and NOT going there a third time, mother of two awesomely smart and smartassed kids; I teach high school English and coached varsity basketball forever. Played basketball in college on a full scholarship, thank God, because my grandma raised me & I couldn’t have afforded it otherwise. Um, I love watching college football and basketball & chatting w/ my besties ; )

Anything you’d like to share with us? Married, single? Kids? Covert CIA agent? Alaskan crab fisherman?

Covered that up there, but forgot to mention my being a covert CIA Alaskan crab fisherman agent.

Spill! What’s your guilty pleasure? I promise not to judge you, as long as it isn’t Justin Bieber. Damn. Seriously?

You’re gonna judge me for having Bieber fever?? Hm. I guess sharing my porn stash via tumblr would be my guilty pleasure… and don’t forget the Rob porn, too!

Do you have a favorite published author? Someone that actually has printed novels with a publishing house, like Stephanie Meyer.

I really like Kresley Cole, Patricia Cornwell and Charlaine Harris.

Favorite musical artist? Anything we should definitely check out?

I think I’m stuck in the 20th century here. Puddle of Mudd is prob the fav but I like classic rock and new rock. Would you laugh at me if I told you I just d/led “My Sharona” the other day?? But I do like The Script, Adele, Ben Harper, Ray LaMontagne, Muse & Elbow!

Time to spread the love…

Who do you drop everything for, including the urn with your great grandmother inside, and run to the computer when you get an update?

I’m horrible about sticking with stories… I know… I think the last time I dropped grandma’s ashes was when The Plan was posting?

Do you have an author that you fangirl over? And do you squee? I do. Many times.

LOL I don’t think I’ve ever “squee’d” in my life… okay, maybe a couple times. Gosh, I’m so bad about reading FF… how hypocritical is that? I get stuck on reading novels & then w/ writing my own stuff that I don’t really take the time like I should to read FF… commence the hanging of the Coach… I guess I’m a horrible follower, too, because when MoBS was posting, I looked forward to reading it each week. I started EP and never finished. Damn. I’m just a quitter! Ack!

If you were to break someone into the Twilight Fandom, what fic would you give them to read first?

I’d probably recommend something that’s lighter at first, maybe Hydraulic Level 5? I mean, it depends on who it is. If it’s one of my more innocent friends, I wouldn’t throw MotU at them right off the bat. They’d have to build up to it LOL

Can you suggest a fic to be recommended on the blog?

Fold Your Wings by Jadalulu was the last fic I rec’d w/ a chapter, so, yeah, how about that?

And now for a bit of fun…

Give a shout out to your team!

My girls Melly, Tiff, Leslie, Mandy, Dani, Kells, Kimmy, Barbi, Zillybug, Nic, Elaine, Tracy, Traci, Jo, Gem, Annette, Jecca, Jan, Janet, Jodi, Korry, Teresa, Kiva, Pam, Sarah, Monica(I could seriously go on forever!) But these are the ladies who’ve inspired & encouraged me along the way. I know I’ve left a shit ton out, but they all know I love ‘em!

Stephanie Meyer’s Bella… Strong, independent woman and a role model for all girls, or a sniveling, whiny, spineless twit? And do you that KStew makes a good Bella? Anybody you think could’ve done it better?

Ha! Role model? I liked Bella at first, but as the saga went along, she started really just getting on my last nerve. So wishy-washy! One second she stands up for herself, the next she caves. Ick! Well, I don’t particularly care for KStew. I won’t give my full opinion because everyone has a right to their opinion of her, so we’ll just leave it at that ‘cause I don’t wanna piss anyone off hehe I would’ve LOVED to see Ellen Page as Bella. But I think Ms. Page is way too talented and wouldn’t have been able to act in such a dull role. She would’ve added a personality to Bella which would’ve been a  no-no. Wait! I’ve said too much… *shrugs*

Ever imagine yourself in the place of a character in the fics you read? (It’s the lemons, isn’t it? Naughty naughty!)

Duh! Of course, it’s the lemons! Who wants to take the place of a dishwashing Bella or maid Bella unless there’re some promising lemons coming up ;)

Let’s say that your friends and family don’t know that you write fanfiction. You’re at the office, or the family get together, and someone mentions that they’ve be reading this fanfiction online. As you listen to them recount the details of this story, you realize with growing horror that this is your story! How do you react?

My face turns redder than red, I break out in a cold sweat, I hold the contents of my stomach in that are climbing up into my throat, my knees start to buckle and then I say, “Oh! That’s by that Jake Baker guy… he’s so BAD!! Can you believe he writes sex scenes like that??” ♥

Thank you for participating!

Friday Night Slash: Cinnamon & Vanilla by @PolkaDotMamaFF

Can it really be Friday again? Jesus almighty where does the time go?
Anyway, this week I’m reccing you a fabulously written one shot by PolkaDotMama called Cinnamon & Vanilla.
It’s an Edward/Jacob mostly canon fic. I saw it recc’d on twitter one day and since I absolutely love the writing style of PDM, of course I ran straight to the fic and devoured it.
Edward and Jacob become really good friends when Edward moves back to Forks, until something happens to Jacob and he and Edward discover what they truly are. They have a falling out for a while but eventually come back to each other.
Something happens that you would never expect and I have honestly never read another fic out there with this type of twist.
It’s original, fabulous and over-all amazing. I can’t tell you how much I loved it and I truly think you will too! You should honestly read it, even if it’s just to find out what this twist it! I promise you that as soon and you start reading it, you’ll fall madly in love and come running back to me thanking me profusely and bowing at my feet!
Here’s a sneak peek into the fic:
XXXXXX
Jacob walked to the edge of the cliff and peered into the sea below. Positive he was about to jump, I shifted my weight and a small twig cracked beneath my hiking boot. Jacob stilled, turning his ear in my direction and closing his eyes for a few moments. Then he turned to look my way. My camouflage behind the trees and distance must have kept me hidden, because he seemed to relax, possibly dismissing the sound as a woodland creature.

He sat with his legs dangling over the rim of the rock, leaning back on his open palms, and turning his face to the sky. For many minutes he sat there with his eyes closed in quiet solitude, drinking in a few evasive rays of the midday sun and breathing the salty sea air deeply into his lungs.

When he stood again, I was startled. His peaceful meditation had relaxed me and I found myself lulled by his quietude. Pacing the flat rock he stood upon, Jacob seemed to be searching for something on the ground, but then he turned to face the ocean. With a burst of speed, he ran and jumped off the cliff, soaring in the air momentarily before he dropped.

Panic rose up in me, flooding me with worry and I was over to the cliff in seconds, peering over the edge.

Jacob was nowhere to be seen, the white, frothy waves distorting my view. He was still under water. I waited, counting the seconds to see if he'd emerge, debating how long he could survive before I needed to leap. When his head broke the surface, I released a relieved breath.

"Whoo!" he hollered, joy evident in his voice as he swam toward a craggy outcrop and started scaling the cliff with his bare hands and feet.

I worried that I should retreat to my hiding place, but my feet seemed to be stuck, my eyes unwilling to leave his beautiful body as he climbed. He caught my eye just as he neared the top and gave me a radiant smile.

Shivering, he looked to where the sun should have been and then back to me. "I thought I felt someone's eyes on me. How long have you been watchin'?" he asked with no malice in his tone.

"A while," I admitted with a shrug. "Before your friends left."

"Ah. I'm Jacob."

"Hi, Jacob. I...I'm Edward," I stammered, still feeling a bit off kilter. "I'm new here, to Forks, and I heard about...well, about this," I said as I gestured to the cliff.

"All the Quileute boys cliff dive. It's a right of passage, I 'spose you could say."

I watched him as he spoke, telling me about his tribe, the land and their interconnectedness, explaining why it was so important for the young men to use the land to show their bravery, yet respect it and recognize its dangers.

While I listened, I paid close attention to how his full lips drew together when he said his "o's" and the pearly flash of teeth when he smiled. His eyes were so dark, nearly black, surrounded by thick lashes that drew me in. Slowly, the water that covered his chest evaporated and it saddened me that I no longer had a legitimate excuse for my eyes to drift, my attention being pulled by yet another drop making a long, slow journey over rippled muscles and disappearing into the waist band of his shorts.

He was so tall and I relished the fact that I had to look up to him. I rarely had to look up to anyone, always towering over those around me. This, however, didn't make me feel less powerful. In fact, it made me feel as if I had control, the ability to make him come down to my level and look at me.

Jacob gestured to the cliff and then looked at me. "I really shouldn't jump alone, so what I did was pretty stupid."

"It looks very dangerous. I'm not sure I'd ever want to risk it."

"Not a risk taker, huh, Edward?" he said with a flash of his smile.

"I take risks, but just not…."

"Come on. Jump with me. We can go down together the first time or I'll go first and be there at the bottom. Which sounds better?" Jacob asked, all the while smiling.

I walked to the edge, peering down and making mental calculations, trying to determine which would be less dangerous. As I made my way to a large boulder and started pulling my shirt over my head, I was surprised that I was so easily convinced.

"So?" Jacob asked as I continued to peel my shoes and clothes off, stripping down to my black boxer briefs.

"Together, I think."

"Good choice. That's how I jumped my first time. Sam went with me."

As Jacob explained what I should do, I listened intently, not getting lost in his flawless skin or the structure of his cheekbones or jaw. I listened to his instructions and his life saving advice. Then he surprised me.

"I shouldn't even be doing this. If the guys found out that I was inviting an outsider to do this…."

"Well, I sure don't wanna get you in trouble," I said as I reached for my jeans and started to pull them over one foot.

"Hey, stop getting dressed, Vanilla," Jacob practically purred as he stepped closer to me, pulling the denim fabric from my hands. "That's not why I told you that. I just meant that we need to be careful." He dropped my jeans in a pile on the rock and smoothed a warm, large hand over my shoulder and down my arm. "This isn't something that you can go and tell your friends about. Some people in Forks know about this, but no one from there has jumped before. I'd be in huge trouble if they knew you did. So, it's between us, okay?" His caress ended when his fingers slipped into my palm.

I could feel desire rushing through me and I had to swallow several times before I could speak.

"I'll be discreet," I promised as I squeezed his fingers.

"Good." His smile lit up his entire face and I felt genuine happiness for the first time in a long time.

"Okay," Jacob started, making sure we were both facing the ocean, our feet planted in a little dip on the smooth stone beneath our feet. "I run pretty fast. Are you a decent runner?"

"I can keep up," I retorted.

"Push off hard and no matter what you do, don't let go of my hand. We need to make sure we can find each other in the water. It can get kinda crazy down there and you can get disoriented and lose the surface. I'll help you find it. Ready?" His eyebrows shot up in question.

"I think so," I said as I leaned my shoulder on his and allowed myself to breathe in his scent. It made my mouth fill once again, and I quickly swallowed, not at all surprised at how tempting he was.

"Let's do it."

"Scarlet" by archer24

Zippity-do-da! Zippity day! My, oh my what a wonderful day! Another week gone by, and it’s time for another recommendation! I stumbled upon this fic a few weeks ago, and was hooked after the first few chapters. “Scarlet” by archer24 reminded me why I love a man in uniform so much. Edward is a FBI agent assigned to one of the most notorious thieves in the Chicago area. When he figures out the location of the next heist, their meeting shocks Edward.

"Shit!" I yelled, narrowly stopping myself from tumbling over the edge as my hands grabbed where she had been just a moment before. There, casually standing in the middle of the roof, was the thief.

He was wearing a hood casting a shadow over his face, disguising himself.

"Freeze!" I yelled over the wind, pointing my gun at him with both hands.

My words seemed to have no effect on him, for he just started walking towards the opposite end of the roof.

"I said freeze!" I yelled louder.

He just kept walking further.

He raised something from his hand and slung it over his back. It was a tube-shaped container.

My eyes widened.

'The painting'

"Stop! There's nowhere for you to go!" I yelled again, inching closer, my gun still firmly pointed at them.

Again, they didn't even seem to hear me, just edged back further until they were standing about a half of a foot away from the ledge.

"Sir! Stop and hand over the painting!" I inched closer, keeping my eyes on them. There was no way he was getting away.

What I said seemed to finally get their attention.

He picked up his head and looked in my direction as if noticing me for the first time. I watched as his gloved hand came up and pushed the hood back off his face.

I felt my jaw drop as I saw tendrils of silky brown locks tumble out.

'Holy shit'

The scarlet thief was no man.

My gun lowered of its own accord, I still couldn't see the exact features of her face because of the darkness, but that didn't stop me from noticing that she was attractive.

She unzipped the trench coat she was wearing, revealing a pair of black tight-fitting pants and a black wife-beater.

Over that, she was wearing what looked like a harness with many straps and carabineers.

With the painting still strung across her back, she bent down and retrieved a carabineer with rope, which she promptly hooked to herself with precision.

The wind was whipping her hair across her face, as I saw her glance up at me again; the only feature of her that I could make out was the small amount of light that reflected off her teeth as she grinned.

Everything came rushing back to me.

"Stop!" My voice, and mind, seemed to finally start functioning; I started sprinting across the rooftop towards her.

When I was only about fifteen feet away; she gave me a crooked grin, saluted me with two fingers, and stepped backwards over the side of the building.

My eyes searched the dark night below me, seeing nothing but the rope she was using to jump as it kept turning through the pulley she had set up on the roof. There was no way I could stop it.

"Damn it!" I cursed, but the wind muffled it.

I whipped open my cell phone to call and see if any of the police had been able to grab her when she reached the street, but then remembered that I had set everyone up in the lobby to stop the thief when they went down.

The rope stopped running through the pulley.

The scarlet thief was gone.

Bella has a mysterious past, with no explanations as to why she became a thief. Bella and Edward run into each other at a coffee shop; Edward has no idea that she is the elusive thief he has been hunting. As Edward continues to try and capture the thief, Bella continues working and more of her past is revealed. When Edward finally catches Scarlet/Bella during a heist, he realizes who she is, and she escapes again. When Edward goes to investigate a lead and nearly gets killed, Bella comes to his rescue and gets him to safety, leaving him with more questions than answers.

But when Bella turns herself in and works out a deal with the director of the FBI to assist the FBI and work with Edward, he can’t figure out what her goal is. As they work together, the tension between them slowly dissipates, and they beginning of their love becomes visible to the both of them. When an adversary from Bella’s past shows up, things become more complicated for the pair.

When Edward finally discovers Bella’s true motives for turning herself over to the FBI, he has to make the decision whether to stay true to his job, or help the woman he loves. This story is full of action and one super badass Bella, with just enough angst to keep you entranced. This fic is well worth your time, and won’t disappoint.

So grab a drink and enjoy!

Magic Monday's featuring CharlotteBlack!

Hola señoras y caballeros!

You like the extent of my Spanish? Yeah? I had to use the internet for help with that. Sadface.

My only justification is that, as a Canadian, I learned French as my secondary language in school so...THERE!

Anyway, today we are looking at one of my ALL TIME FAVOURITE DRAMIONE FICS! Again, if you don’t know what that means...I am terribly, terribly sorry for you.

My Brother Blaise by CharlotteBlack

I’d just like to say that though I have never spoken to, or heard of this author outside of this fic, well, CharlotteBlack...if you’re reading this...PLEASE LET ME FANGIRL ALL OVER YOU!

That sounds kind of dirty, doesn’t it? Hmm...

ANYWAY, there is only one problem with this story and it is that the site that it is hosted on (Granger Enchanted) requires you to join before you can read stories but it’s a painless process and worth it, folks!

Now, what makes this story so unique is that it takes Hermione’s past, shakes it the hell up, and throws her back into the middle of a life and a body that she doesn’t know or understand. The best part? We see a whole new and different side of Draco. By the end of this, you ache for him, you really do. And the very last chapter? Grab tissues. It definitely ends up a high note, a funny high note to be sure, but you’re gonna cry (if you’re anything like me, and I cry at everything) for sure before you get there. I HIGHLY RECCOMEND THIS FIC! It was the one that got me into Hermione/Draco fics in the first place.

From the author: A magical virus contracted during Hermione's Healer training reveals a side of her that she never knew existed...

Here’s a little taste of the fic...

‘What is going on?'

Blaise's arms squeezed her shoulders as he spoke quietly to her. ‘Hermione, please, let's just let mother handle this.' He pulled gently at her shoulders trying to extract them both from the room, before he was stopped by Lucius strong resonating tone, realizing he mustn't have spoken quietly enough.

‘Hermione?' Lucius raised his eyebrow inquisitively at the pair, before turning to his wife who in turn shook her head delicately perplexed.

Blaise sighed dropping his hands from Hermione's unmoving shoulders as she stood stoic as a statue unwilling to leave.

‘What an unusual name, especially for one your age, I'd even dare to say you might be the only witch in all of England with that particular name child.' A gentle smirk graced his lips that some she imagined would find attractive although her only wish was to smack it right of his face.

‘Mudblood?' Draco murmured a little further back from the witch he had greeted so enthusiastically.

Hermione spared a disparaging glance at the miniature Malfoy, not game to loose sight of her main opponent, before her eyes locked back with the cold steely one's of Lucius Malfoy.

Lucius tilted his head, his eyes sweeping up and down her form making her feel naked and dirty as he examined her like an interesting puzzle. ‘Everyone always thought there was something special about you.' His voice was silky and dangerous, like pure poison slipping deadly through her veins and chilling her bones along the way. ‘A muggle could never top a pure wizard, though you would never believe us. But this explains it all doesn't it?' his smirk returned, mocking her with every syllable. ‘A muggle,' he spat the word as if it was itself dirt upon his tongue, ‘could never have lasted that long underneath Bellatrix's wand.'

She had crossed the room before his mouth had closed, the smirk not even having the chance to return as her fist met the side of his face in a powerful blow that had the elegant wizard stumbling unsteady backwards his hands reaching to cup his battered cheek.

‘You fucking bastard!' she spat at his cowered form, trying to resist the urge to kick him too.

*sigh* I wish I could find more stories like this one, so if you know of any, PLEASE (by all that is good and holy in this world) tell me about them! As always, if you enjoy this story, leave CharlotteBlack some love because this story does not get enough attention, in my humble opinion.

Don’t forget to send me an email at alexis.bookbytescorner@gmail.com if you know of a story that needs to get some extra love!

Saturday Sit-Down with LaVitaNuova!

Let’s start off with the basics…

What’s your penname?
La Vita Nuova

Where do you post most often?
The only place I post right now is fanfiction.net, but Twiwrite.net has been recommended to me and when I stop being lazy, I’ll probably put my stories up there too.

What’s your favorite pairing? Favorite genre?
Hmm, favourite pairing would probably be Bella and Jasper, but I’ll take Bella and one of the Wolves any day. I don’t really care about the genre, I’ll try anything.

Is there a pairing or genre that you absolutely cannot stand?
I used to hate Bella and Jacob, but I’m slowly getting over that, I just can’t stand it when he’s weak and panders to her every whim. Oh, Alice and Jasper drives me nuts, probably because like a lot of people, I just can’t stand Alice.

What got you into the Twilight Fandom? It’s all the hot guys, wasn’t it? Don’t lie.
I can say without a doubt that it was Edward!... I was completely obsessed. But fanfics helped me get over that. Initially I devoured anything and everything with him in it, but I think I overdosed somewhere along the way and now I can’t stand him… unless he happens to be covered in tattoos (not sure why!), or the story holds its own so well that you could replace Charlie as the leading guy and it would still enthrall me.

What do you find to be the most challenging part about writing your fics?
Motivating myself to write when I really just want to hide under a rock is the hardest thing for me. I’m not one of those people who write the whole thing before I post, mainly because I actually need to impetus to finish. I can’t tell you how many unfinished fics I have gathering dust in my laptop.

Best review you’ve ever received? Worst?
I think the best has to be when someone told me that my style of writing captivated them, it was a huge ego boost and you just can’t help but smile when someone says something so complimentary. The worst was for In Omne Tempus, for the epilogue someone told me that I’d written the characters all wrong and I shouldn’t bother writing if I couldn’t get it right. I hate that I just remembered the bad so accurately over the good, but I guess that’s just human nature L

How do you get into the zone? What’s your method for getting the creative juices flowing? Dancing around your living room in nothing but a baseball cap, weird shit like that?
Maybe I’ll try the baseball cap thing the next time I’m feeling all uninspired… I’m afraid I’m not nearly that interesting. Mostly I write my stories in my head when I drive. What About Love? came from a long trip to see a friend while I was singing my little heart out to 80’s power ballads.

Do your friends and family in your real life know about your fanfiction alter-ego?
Nope. They have no idea and quite often ask what the hell I’m writing all the time, I just don’t feel like they would understand.

What do you look for in a good fanfic?
Plot, prose, well developed characters, the usual I guess. I’ll read most anything, but only if it’s finished, I just don’t have the patience for unfinished fics.

Tell us a bit about yourself…

Anything you’d like to share with us? Married, single? Kids? Covert CIA agent? Alaskan crab fisherman?
Lol... Well I can tell you that I’ve never caught a crab and I would love to be a CIA agent, but I’m not a US citizen so that one’s out too. I’ll tell you that I’ve been married, but other than that it’s all a mystery I’m afraid.

Spill! What’s you guilty pleasure? I promise not to judge you, as long as it isn’t Justin Beiber.
I think it would have to be musicals. I would love to live in a world where people just randomly broke out into song and an occasional choreographed dance… I mean wouldn’t that be great!

Do you have a favorite published author? Someone that actually has printed novels with a publishing house, like Stephanie Meyer.
I have so many, but I love Margaret Atwood, I think JK Rowling has an imagination to die for and if I could ever write something original, I would want to be as thought provoking as Lionel Shriver’s We Need To Talk About Kevin

Favorite musical artist? Anything we should definitely check out?
I’m so completely uncool when it comes to music, but I think you’ve probably guessed that from the whole musicals thing. My ipod is filled with such a weird mixture of stuff, and I’ve never really had a favourite artist, but I’ve just got into the Rolling Stones – I’m a late bloomer!

Time to spread the love…

Who do you drop everything for, including the urn with your great grandmother inside, and run to the computer when you get an update?
Sadly I don’t read unfinished fics, but I was CRAZY about Oracle Vas’s First Love Lost and Last Love Found, I think both are just amazing.

Do you have an author that you fangirl over? And do you squee? I do. Many times.
One of my favourite authors is mel.wolfgirl, I would love to write something so multi layered as her fics, I think if she ever reviewed one of my fics (positively of course!) then I would absolutely freak out.

If you were to break someone into the Twilight Fandom, what fic would you give them to read first?
That’s a tough one. I think Oracle Vas’s First Love Lost is a great start and doesn’t require any knowledge of the characters, however it also may not be so good as an intro because it’s an AH. So I think maybe NusiainForks Golden Moon, or Lillie Cullen’s Lesson In Release.

Can you suggest a fic to be recommended on the blog?
I think The Imprint Chronicles by mel.wolfgirl deserves way more love than it’s received, she’s the only author who makes me want Seth, and not in a little brother kind of way.

And now for a bit of fun…

Give a shout out to your team!
My beta Twiticulate is the most wonderful little lady I know. I can’t even remember what life was like without her, and we’ve only been working together for half a fic really. She pimps me out and has the patience to pull me out of the ditch when I’ve decided that my words have jumbled into nothingness. We have an absolute honesty policy and I can’t even imagine how hard it is for her to tell me when something needs work, but she does and I know that my stories will be so much better simply because I have her onboard. I just wish I could repay her for everything she does for me…
My prereader, Liamsgurl33 is also fabulous, she reads my stories at strange hours of the night and is often the last little boost of confidence I get before posting.
So a huge thanks to both of them!

Stephanie Meyer’s Bella… Strong, independent woman and a role model for all girls, or a sniveling, whiny, spineless twit? And do you that KStew makes a good Bella? Anybody you think could’ve done it better?
Terrible, terrible role model. A perfect lesson is how not to be strong and independent. Not only that but she is one of the most selfish characters I had ever read, but I was completely oblivious to this for the longest time.
I have to be honest and say that bar Jacob and Charlie, I think the whole film was poorly cast. I know plenty of people who disagree, but that’s just how I see it. My beta and I went back and forth a few months ago over who we’d cast, dead or alive and it was really interesting who we came up with. I can’t remember who we thought would be a great Bella, but I think Mila Kunis was up there – probably too old though.

Ever imagine yourself in the place of a character in the fics you read? (It’s the lemons, isn’t it? Naughty naughty!)
Always – maybe that should have been my guilty pleasure!

Let’s say that your friends and family don’t know that you write fanfiction. You’re at the office, or the family get together, and someone mentions that they’ve be reading this fanfiction online. As you listen to them recount the details of this story, you realize with growing horror that this is your story! How do you react?
Go bright red, excuse myself in a completely obvious yet weird way and then secretly feel fantastic or forlorn, depending on what they thought of my writing. But I still don’t think it would give me the confidence to come out of the fanfic closet.

Thank you for participating!
Thank you for having me!
