“Such Great Heights” by SweetT129

It’s summer time people; go have some fun in the sun! Stretch out on a towel and soak up the rays! And while you’re at it, go check out this juicy fic! Such Great Heights by SweetT129 is one filthy, yummy, hot goddamn it’s lemony story. When Bella goes to visit her friends Jasper and Alice at their Las Vegas home for a weekend of fun, things don’t go quite as she expected.

I wondered if they had been serious the night before, when Jasper had mentioned Alice's previous reaction to tequila. Then I wondered what she would do if I kissed her. I supposed that we were drunk enough to excuse the inappropriateness of the kiss, so she probably wouldn't hit me. Hopefully.

Damn it all to hell, I just didn't care. I simply had to taste those lips.

So I did.

I leaned in to her, meeting her eyes as I did. She knew what I was going to do before I actually did it, but she didn't pull away. I took that as a sign of her acceptance, and moved the last few inches toward her until our lips touched.

Oh god, her lips WERE soft! I felt that kiss with my entire body; it started at my lips, but the tingles and warmth that it caused spread through my body like a wildfire.

My tongue slipped past her lips and into her mouth, and I heard us moan together as it met hers. My hand reached out, without any conscious thought on my part, and found the back of her head, my fingers winding in her soft black and blue hair and holding her against me. I was completely lost in the kiss. I forgot where I was, who I was, who she was... Nothing mattered at all except for the way her lips felt against mine.

I don't know how long that kiss lasted, but as some point, my body completely ran out of oxygen, so I had to pull away, no matter how much I didn't want to. As my lips left hers, I gasped for air. It had been the best kiss of my life up until that moment, hands down.

In the two seconds that passed after we stopped kissing, I tried to wrap my mind around what had just happened. They may have been the longest two seconds ever. I had just kissed Alice Whitlock. I had just kissed Jasper's wife.

Oh god! Jasper!

I opened my eyes to look at him, ready to apologize for my horrible drunken betrayal. But instead of seeing him sitting across from me, angry, I was met with the sight of his face, merely centimeters from mine, his eyes hooded with lust, just before he kissed me.

Thing get pretty *ahem* hot and heavy from there. In the days after their weekend of love, the trio decides to continue with the arrangement. The three of them met through an online fic site (wonder where that idea came from) and Twitter. Bella, an author for a newspaper, is married to Edward, who is off saving the world as a doctor in Kenya and her best friend Victoria is a chef in the governor’s mansion.

The trio continues their dalliances as they handle real life and their complicated relationship. But Alice’s depression and Bella trying to hide her relationship from her family and friends causes some strain between them. After getting advice from an acquaintance and another weekend together at Bella’s place, things seem to be going smoothly. Unfortunately all good things most come to an end. Alice’s depression causes a serious rift between the couple and Bella. As they try to figure out if their relationship will last, Bella struggles with her own relationship with Edward. The couple seems to work out, but during their next visit to Bella, Alice drops a bombshell.

This is one schmexy story and it is written by one awesome lady. If you’re in the mood for a sexy threesome or a snarky, loveable Bella, then you should definitely give this story a read!

So grab a drink and enjoy!

Magic Monday's Featuring Bex-Chan!

여보세요!
This week I bring you...Korean greetings! I really hope that Yahoo has not failed me when it comes to its translation feature because I wouldn’t know proper Korean if someone smacked me in the face with a Korean dictionary. Not that I’m inviting anyone to do that to me or anything...and I’ve officially gotten off track in a whoppin’ two sentences. Okay, this week I bring you a WIP (work in progress) and normally I don’t rec those but I am really enjoying this one!
Isolation by Bex-Chan
What I love about this fic is the fact that the relationship between Draco and Hermione is so canon-compliant that sometimes I want to reach through my screen and bitchslap Draco.

God, wouldn’t that be nice? Could you imagine if you could do that via your computer? Trolling would become a thing of the past if we could just reach through the screen and give’em a good wallop across the face.

*sigh* One day, technology. One day.

Back on track! This is a slow moving fic, the romance is believable and most of all, the relationship between Draco and Hermione is believable which is what I like the most about it. I normally avoid a WIP fic because I don’t like having to wait for it when I really like a fic but this is one that I would highly recommend for any Dramione shipper! I’ve laughed, I’ve sworn at the computer screen and I’ve cried during this fic which to me means that it’s well written. Then again, I cry when I drive by a dead raccoon so perhaps I’m not the best judge of the snotsobbing factor.

From the author...

Post HBP. Ron and Harry are Horcrux hunting and Hermione has been left at Hogwarts to help the Order make it safe for the other students. Draco is forced by Snape to stay in Hogwarts for his own protection, but he can't leave the room he is given; Granger's room. Hermione is the only student trusted with this information, so her and Malfoy share the small space, and Draco tries to avoid insanity as he becomes increasingly isolated with only the Mudblood for company. Something's going to give...

Here’s a little taste of the fic...

"Why did you call me here?"

"Because he will be staying with you," McGonagall told her steadily. "You are my most trustworthy student and your skills as a witch are-

"How can you do this to me?" she moaned, scrunching her face with stress. "I hate him. He's evil-

"I know that this is a lot to ask," the other witch said with genuine sympathy. "But there is nobody else I can trust with this. You have a spare room-

"We'll kill each other-
"

"No you won't," she argued, taking some steps towards the witch to place a comforting hand on her shoulder. "I am keeping his wand and I will ward your dorm so he can't leave and you have a password for your bedroom-
"

"There must be someone else," Hermione pleaded. "Anyone else. One of the professors-

"You are the only person who I trust to handle this," McGonagall breathed sadly. "The other professors have too much on their plates as it is. I need you to do this-

"For how long?"

"For as long as it takes," she answered cryptically, offering the girl another apologetic frown. "I am really sorry for this, Miss Granger. If things are really that bad then I will do my best to make other arrangements, but I honestly believe that you can do this."

She wanted to protest; to tell McGonagall to let Malfoy rot in the grave he had dug himself. She wanted to point out that he would probably try to kill her in her sleep, or that she wouldn't last a day without hexing the twat until he was a pointless mess smeared against her wall. But images of Dumbledore fluttered in her brain.

If we don't protect Draco Malfoy from harm, then Albus' sacrifice will be for nothing...

"Okay," she found herself mumbling absently. "Okay, I-I will try."
As always, don’t forget to leave the author some love in the form of reviews!

Saturday Sit Down w/ @DCC_HHN

Let me start off by saying a huge thank you to HHN for completing this interview for me! I’m so excited for you all to get to know him a little better! Much love, bb!

Let’s start off with the basics…

What’s your penname?
HHN

Where do you post most often?
First, I would hardly say that I post often considering I've only really posted one fic (currently writing three others) but I posted on FFN. I tried Twilighted but to be quite honest, I didn't like the non-responsive 'beta' they made me send my shit to before posting. Then I forgot my password and didn't care enough to get it reset.

What’s your favorite pairing? Favorite genre?
Well, anything but Bella & Edward. If I wanted Bella & Edward, I'd re-read the books. I mean, how many different ways can you write Bella and Edward? I prefer slashy pairings (obviously) and I like unconventional ones. As for favorite genre, as far as fanfic goes, I like the non-vamp shit.

Is there a pairing or genre that you absolutely cannot stand?
Oh, I guess I should've waited before answering that last question! Besides Bella & Edward, I can't stand it when Emmett is gay. I don't know why, it just doesn't work for me.

What got you into the Twilight Fandom? It’s all the hot guys, wasn’t it? Don’t lie.
Actually, I had no idea what Twilight was until the movie came out. I remember being on Facebook and MySpace back in the day and kept seeing all these flair and bumper sticker things about Edward Cullen and Jacob Black and thinking 'who the fuck are these people?' And then the movie came out and honestly, when I saw the trailer, I thought it looked lame as fuck. I had no desire to see the movie although I consider myself kind of a geek when it comes to things related to witches, wizards, vampires, and other supernatural beings. So, I ended up losing a bet with my then roommate on who would win a football game one day and my punishment was that I had to go see Twilight with her. Well, I saw the movie and actually found myself liking it. I borrowed her books (she had already read Twilight and New Moon and was in the middle of Eclipse at the time) and ended up reading the entire series in 8 days, including what was posted of Midnight Sun on SM's website. I then started re-reading them over and over. I was finding myself becoming obsessed with it and searched out online communities. Well, I found TTS message boards (the official ones) and joined the 30+ Twihards group and made some new friends and everything took off from there.

What do you find to be the most challenging part about writing your fics?
Honestly, finding the time. My job is very demanding and I travel constantly so finding the time to sit down and write is tough. Back when I started writing, I used to write at work. A lot! I remember one week in particular where I literally worked for like 3 hours and wrote the rest of the time. Well, I can't really do that anymore so finding the time is still really hard. I had pretty much given up on writing until recently when a plot bunny wouldn't leave me the fuck alone and I started writing again. I think I'll stick with one shots and things of that sort because the way my schedule works, I don't want to start a serial story and leave people hanging when I don't have time to come back to it. That happened with the first story I wrote (Blush & Bashful) and I ended up ending it prematurely. I still look at that story and cringe because I wasn't able to give it the ending I had envisioned.

Best review you’ve ever received? Worst?
Hmm, I generally don't remember the specifics of my reviews. I also learned recently that I have bad etiquette when it comes to my reviews because I guess most people reply to every one? Oops! Anyway, I do remember one review complaining about my Jasper (the narrator of my story) wasn't basically "cowboy" enough for her. Oh fucking well, if you want Cowboy Jasper write it your fucking self. J

How do you get into the zone? What’s your method for getting the creative juices flowing? Dancing around your living room in nothing but a baseball cap, weird shit like that?
Well, it all depends on my mood. When I started writing in the first place, I was working at this client's office and there was this one guy there who was so fucking hot I couldn't help but ogle at him all day. I would get myself so revved up I had to release it in such a way that wouldn't land me in jail so I started writing slashy sex scenes. Needless to say, that didn't really 'release' all that energy…it made it worse! There were many times when I found myself not being able to stand up for a while if you know what I mean.

Do your friends and family in your real life know about your fanfiction alter-ego?
Oh hell fucking no! It will never happen! Well, some fandom friends turned into real life friends and of course they know but that's it! It's funny I actually almost had a panic attack once at work when a coworker and I were talking about all the shit you can find when you Google yourself. Well, she Googled me and my fucking Twilighted profile was one of the first things to show up! I almost died! I tried to play it off like I was linked to it because it was a story I had favorited or some bullshit like that. I immediately took my name off of that profile and any other that might lead to it. Disaster averted!

What do you look for in a good fanfic?
Plot, plot, plot, plot! Some fics are like watching gay porn. "Hi, my name is Edward. Hi, I'm Jasper. Let's fuck!" I understand some one shots are pure lemon but I can't really get into those. I like fics that are funny, angsty, and yes lemony. However, if a fic contains the words "moist" and "core" in the same sentence, I'm out!

Tell us a bit about yourself…

Anything you’d like to share with us? Married, single? Kids? Covert CIA agent? Alaskan crab fisherman?
I am single, live in California, and work as an auditor. Yes, an auditor. I am constantly surrounded by some of the most dull people ever put on this earth. Sometimes I use writing as a way to escape the monotony of it all! Oh, and I love sports more than nearly anything, especially college football.

Spill! What’s you guilty pleasure? I promise not to judge you, as long as it isn’t Justin Bieber.
Um, isn't fanfic enough of a guilty pleasure? You want more? Actually, it would have to be YA books. I swear I'm intelligent enough to read and comprehend "grown up" books!

Do you have a favorite published author? Someone that actually has printed novels with a publishing house, like Stephenie Meyer.
Besides SM, I love Dean Koontz, Dan Brown, Preston & Child, James Patterson, Rick Riordan, Suzanne Collins, Ted Dekker, etc.

Favorite musical artist? Anything we should definitely check out?
Yeah, that would be Madonna. Perhaps you've heard of her. I also love Fleetwood Mac/Stevie Nicks, Cher, U2, Barenaked Ladies, the Mamas & the Papas, Lady Gaga, etc. Nothing really groundbreaking here. Sorry, I'm not a music snob. You know the type…the guy/girl who judges you by the music you listen to and looks down on you if you like anything that's ever been played on the radio.

Time to spread the love…

Who do you drop everything for, including the urn with your great grandmother inside, and run to the computer when you get an update?
I'm pretty sure this is going to come across as snarky as fuck but no one really. I know some people who treat fanfic authors almost like pseudo-celebrities. I see so many people in Twitter feed freak the fuck out over someone updating or get really excited when their favorite author replies to them in a tweet. I mean, don't get me wrong, I do have some authors I enjoy reading and will read most of their stuff. But there's no one that I have drop everything to go read.

Do you have an author that you fangirl over? And do you squee? I do. Many times.
See above.

If you were to break someone into the Twilight Fandom, what fic would you give them to read first?
Depends on what they like. Honestly, I'm not that well versed in fanfic but I would refer them to my friend @nmyhappyplace who I consider the "resident librarian" for recommendations. If there's a fic worth a damn out there, she's read it.

Can you suggest a fic to be recommended on the blog?
No, but you might want to ask her. ;-)

And now for a bit of fun…

Give a shout out to your team!
Go Buckeyes! Oh, that's not what you mean. I'm basically Team Peen.

Stephenie Meyer’s Bella… Strong, independent woman and a role model for all girls, or a sniveling, whiny, spineless twit? And do you that KStew makes a good Bella? Anybody you think could’ve done it better?
Oh, how I go back and forth with this. I see her both ways, honestly, depending on the situation. I would say one part "independent woman" to two parts "sniveling, whiny, spineless twit."

Ever imagine yourself in the place of a character in the fics you read? (It’s the lemons, isn’t it? Naughty naughty!)
Uh, isn't that the point?

Let’s say that your friends and family don’t know that you write fanfiction. You’re at the office, or the family get together, and someone mentions that they’ve be reading this fanfiction online. As you listen to them recount the details of this story, you realize with growing horror that this is your story! How do you react?
First, I would make sure that they haven't found me out. Second, I keep my fucking mouth shut so that if they haven't, they never do.

Thank you for participating!

Friday Night Slash: Blush and Bashful by @DCC_HHN

Okay y'all, this week I'm bringing out a classic. It's been a while since this story has completed and when I read it, I wasn't aware of how awesome the author truly is. HHN has become a truly awesome friend of mine via twitter and one day I was checking out his profile when I realized that he was the author of Blush & Bashful, which is the story I'm recc'ing today.

It's a fantastic story set in high school scenario. Jasper is the new kid and he's immediately attracted to both Jacob and Edward. Jacob and Edward HATE each other and it's widely known.

Jasper ends up going out with Jacob but he's still very much attracted to Edward. You find out that there is a history between the two boys but you're not quite sure what.

I swear to everything that's Holy in this world, you will love this fic. It's full of fucking WIN and HHN has a writing style that pulls you in and keeps you interested the whole time. I personally can't wait until he finishes the projects he's working on now because I crave more from him and I think you will too.

Why don't we take a glimpse into the first chapter of B&B:

The teacher came to the front of the room, announced himself as Mr. Mason, and called the class to order. He talked as he passed out the books and syllabi. By the time he did roll call, I actually started to remember a few more of the names of my classmates other than the two hotties I already knew.

Mr. Mason actually tried to teach a little bit on the first day of class. He did some refresher problems that were from Algebra II, which I had no problem with so I didn't pay close attention. Instead I found my eyes wandering back and forth between the two gorgeous boys in my class, trying to decide who was more beautiful. To the right there was Jacob Black, the dark, beautiful Native American tribal god. To the left there was Edward Cullen, the pale, gorgeous god from Greek mythology. Both of these boys truly were gods walking among mortals. I looked over each of their faces and their bodies trying to take in every detail and scanning for any possible physical faults each might have, coming up empty. After almost an hour of contemplation, I couldn't come to a conclusion as to who was better looking. They were both equally, but distinctively beautiful.

Once again, I think Angela caught me gawking at the boys, causing me to blush furiously. I tried to pay attention to what was going on, but that was a losing battle with those two sitting in here. By the time the bell rang, my "little problem" hadn't subsided one bit since the last hour. Contact a doctor if you have an erection lasting over four hour' I remembered from that one boner pill commercial with that ugly, grinning idiot.

Once again, I had to strategically place my books in front of my jeans. As I got up and before I could get my books securely in place, I noticed Edward Cullen had glanced back at me. He then quickly looked away from me while shaking his head back and forth and his shoulders shaking like he was silently laughing. Fuck me running up hill and sideways! Now I truly am fucking mortified. Edward Cullen, the god that he is, had caught me with a boner not once, but twice! This guy is totally going to think I am a grade-A pervert with body control issues. I wonder if he realizes that he's partly to blame for my condition.

Angela hung back again, waiting for me. It turned out we were in the same class again next hour, Honors English. During our walk, I tried not to think about either of the hotties that made my unit want to stand up and say "hi." We made small talk on the way to our next class, but it was nothing significant. I'll be damned! I thought when we walked into the class. This class held the exact same people as the previous two, not to mention they were all sitting in nearly the same positions again. I was flushed scarlet as I walked past Edward Cullen yet again who was grinning and staring forward as I walked by. Finally the curiosity was killing me.

"These are the same people that have been in both of our other classes," I finally muttered to Angela as we took our seats in essentially the same position as the previous two classes.

"Yeah, we're kind of known as the Junior Class Honors Family, although the word 'family' might be pushing it a little," she whispered as she glanced left to right. "All eleven of us, well twelve of us now," she corrected herself looking at me, "are in the advanced placement program. We have all been in the same classes since freshman year." I wondered what the "family" issue meant. Maybe I was right with my assessment that the class was clearly divided.

"Um, I kind of noticed that the same people always sit together. These guys are always on the left side of the room," I said as I gestured with my hands, "and these guys are always on the right. It's like the class is divided into two separate, distinct groups."

She nodded at my assessment, eagerly bringing her head closer to me. "That's because there really are two separate groups in our 'family'," she whispered, doing the double quotation marks with her fingers. "That's because everyone in this class, apart from Eric Yorkie, myself, and now you I guess, is on either 'Team Edward' or 'Team Jacob'," she said, doing the finger quotes again.

Now my curiosity was raging. "Team Edward and Team Jacob?" I whispered to her, intently moving our heads even closer. There was obviously a story behind this and being the closet Drama Queen that I am, I couldn't wait for the dish.

"Yeah, Jacob Black and Edward Cullen do not like each other," she continued, emphasizing the word not. "Actually, hate might be a better description. There's been bad blood between them since we were in junior high, though nobody really knows why. But it's definitely there. They're both terribly competitive in everything they do, always trying to out-do the other. They also both have electrifying personalities which has caused everyone in the program to gravitate toward one of them or the other. Well, like I said, other than Eric Yorkie, because neither side really wants him on their team; you because, well, you're too new to know any better; and me, because I don't want to get myself wrapped up in all of that and I truly like both guys and almost everyone else here." I thought back to her reaction over the Chemistry partnering and immediately figured out who was excluded by that almost. "I like to think of myself as 'Team Switzerland.'"

"I might have to join you on Team Switzerland, if you don't mind," I whispered, smiling coyly to her. "I'm not sure I want to get myself wrapped up in whatever bullshit is going on with those two."

"Sure, you can be on my team. I'm sick of being on a team by myself."

"What about the other guy…Eric? Is he on Team Switzerland?" I whispered even more quietly since he was sitting right in front of her.

She laughed and shook her head. "No, I don't want him on my team either," she mouthed to me and winked. I couldn't help but chuckle. Poor kid didn't fit in anywhere.

The rest of English went by pretty quickly. The reading list was pretty much what I was expecting, including Hamlet, The Grapes of Wrath, The Crucible, and The Great Gatsby. It was nice that I actually managed to concentrate on class which helped out my other "condition." Well, at least I wasn't going to have to call my doctor.

Alright folks, there you have it! He's funny, he's amazing, and he refuses to believe that he has as much talent he actually has. I would like to rectify that and with your help, I think we can convince him! Anyway, he did me a favor and filled out our little Saturday Sit Down interview, so tune in tomorrow and get to know him just a little better!

I'll be back next week with a new rec, so until then, please enjoy!

xoxo

Magic er...Wednesday?

HEY GUYS!!!

I have a favour to ask of you on behalf of one of my good friends from undergrad. She is doing her THESIS on HARRY POTTER FANFICTION. How fucking awesome is that? I would have done a Masters if I had thought about writing about the Fandom.

She has put together a short 10-15 minute survey that is COMPLETELY ANONYMOUS for AUTHORS of the Harry Potter Fandom. If you write HP fic, even if you’ve never posted it, please complete the survey! If you know of authors who would be willing to help a gal out, please send them the link, or link them to me and I will talk to them. I can personally vouch for Rachel, we attended McMaster University together for four years and poked each other awake in Satire class for just as long. Please, please, please do her a solid and complete the survey.

Here is the link: http://app.fluidsurveys.com/s/hpff/

Thank you MUCHLY!

"When Darkness Falla" by LaVitaNuova

Boy, do I have a treat for you this week! If you love dark fics and love a dark Paul even more, get your rears in gear and go check out When Darkness Falls by a returning favorite of mine, LaVitaNuova! This fic will have you flying by the edge of your seat; LaVitaNuova has written yet another cliffhanger that keeps you on your toes. Now I’ve read some dark fics in my time in the Fandom, and I’ve gotta say that this fic takes the cake on dark thrillers.

Pulling up to Charlie's little detached property, which was hidden back at the end of the road, the tension returned when she saw him twitching agitatedly on the porch steps.

He didn't give her time to pull the cab door open herself and though she could tell he was acting out of contorted emotions, she couldn't help the sting of repressed tears when he began to yell loud enough for the entire street to hear.

"What the hell have I told you Bella? How do you think it looks when I can't even get my own daughter to pay attention while the whole town is falling to shit?"

Almost physically retracting from his harsh words, Bella hitched back, the hand he held on her wrist burning as he pulled her from the truck and into the house.

Once safely inside, he let her go, but she was left to linger in the doorway, almost afraid to step forward as he paced back and forth maniacally.

"I'm sorry Dad. I just wanted to see Jake and Embry." She said softly, almost not wanting to draw attention back to herself. She'd never seen her father like this and it wasn't the fear of what he would do, but the fear of what he knew that kept her rooted to the spot.

"Dad, what's going on?" Bella asked tentatively. Her words seemed to stop him in his tracks, his eyes full of troubled pain as they met hers.

"Come sit down Bells?" He requested with a heavy sigh, placing himself down on the couch rather than his usual individual recliner. Her feet followed him and she gingerly graced the edge of the cushions, waiting for whatever words he needed to impart.

"Is it Sam?" She asked impatiently and he lifted his head, looking her over quizzically.
"No. This isn't about Sam… Bells, this is… well, it's worse…."

He stopped and Bella felt her lungs expand in preparation.

"We got a report a few days ago about a girl who's apparently been missing from the Makah reservation for a couple weeks now. Emily Young?" Charlie added, as if the name might mean something to her.

Shaking her head, Bella tried to beg him to go on without words.

"Apparently she's the cousin of Leah Clearwater, Sam's…" Before he could finish, Bella was speaking for him, "…fiancée, she's Sam's fiancée."

Charlie nodded and Bella couldn't help the adrenaline that seemed to be pouring throughout her body, feeling both afraid and impatient for what Charlie was trying to tell her.

"What about her?" She said eventually, knowing what she was asking but unwilling to put into words.

Charlie nodded and unlike the usual perfunctory space that was held between them, he rustled closer and she wasn't sure if he was trying to offer comfort or looking for some himself.

"She's dead Bells. A hiker found her in the woods this afternoon; it looks like an animal attack, but…"

He didn't need to say anymore, even to her it sounded far too suspicious, first Leah's fiancé went missing and now her cousin had shown up dead.

"I need you to stay put Bella. I know you think I've been too strict on you recently, but I can't watch you all the time and I know Jake's a good guy, but I don't like the idea of you going down there. Not until I can figure all of this out."

He was all but begging with her, asking rather than demanding. She understood both his fatherly and vocational predicaments. Knowing she had little space to maneuver, she agreed, nodding her head and hoping that in the morning they could reassess the situation somehow.

He left a few minutes later when his radio crackled a code she couldn't understand. Closing the door shut behind him, she wrestled with the chain, wondering just when her fingers had begun to shake. She didn't like feeling so weak, especially so unnecessarily, she thought. She bound up the stairs two at a time, laying out her books and flinging down her backpack, hoping to delve into a mountain of homework. It didn't happen though, and it wasn't only because her mind was caught in a whirlpool of horror. Nestled on the edges of a flourishing eco-system, animal calls weren't out of the ordinary in Forks. But on this night the whole town looked to their windows in disturbed interest; as barely ten minutes passed when the darkness wasn't penetrated by the piercing wail of a painful howl.

The plotline in this story has you constantly wondering what surprise LaVitaNuova will through at you next. An astounding piece of work, LaVitaNuova taps into the inherent darkness that is present in all mankind and brings it to light in such an intriguing plot, you want to look away. Grab yourself a big up of coffee because you aren’t gonna want to stop reading this fic up till the very end.
So grab a drink and enjoy!

Magic Monday's Featuring femmequixotic!

Hey guys,

This week I bring you a beautiful fucking piece of fanfiction. This is one of my favourite stories and I hope that you’ll enjoy it as much as I do. That being said, it’s a Drarry and if that’s not your cuppa, well...your loss! :)

Now, this fic is based on drabbles written by another author (which you can find the link to on the story’s page) and while I enjoyed the drabbles I’m a fan of detail and this hit the spot for me. It’s one of those “pass the tissues, this is beautiful” kind of stories. It’s how I get every time I watch PS. I love you. I’m not sure if that’s an incentive for everyone or not... o.O

From the author...

I sit silently in the shadows, staring at the tiny, pulsing ball of light that tells me my Harry's still alive

Here’s a taste of the fic...

The image of my fingers twisted in those thick locks just this morning as I arched over Harry, gasping, makes my stomach lurch and I sit down suddenly in the narrow armchair beside the bed, holding Harry's chart close to my chest.

I'd ordered the induction of the Sleep after I'd spent hours pulling bone fragments from surrounding tissue.

It sounds so clinical, that. So far removed from the reality of the horror of plucking shards of Harry's skull from his brain, one by one, praying that my wand would hold steady. Hannah had come in halfway through and tried to take my place. I've no idea what I said to her, but I doubt it was pleasant. I remember Marietta pulling her away, though, and their whispered argument only a few feet from me as the monitoring spell beeped softly over Harry's too-still body.

I'll dream about it, I know, if I close my eyes. About the blood on my hands, and the firm softness of Harry's brain beneath my gloved fingertips, and the terror coursing through me that with one miscalculated slip I would destroy his life.

And mine.

Man, I fucking LOVED this story. Honestly, give it a shot. Even if Drarry isn’t your cuppa, just try it. Nothing is too explicit!

As always, recs can be emailed to me at alexis.bookbytescorner@gmail.com and don’t forget to leave the author some love!

Saturday Sit-Down with IdreamofEddy!

Let’s start off with the basics…

What’s your penname?

Currently, it's IdreamofEddy.  It changes from day to day, week to week.

Where do you post most often?

When it comes to fan-fiction, I'm strictly on Fanfiction.net.  I have done some writing on Wattpad though, but not in regards to Twific.  Fanfiction.net has its moments and it sucks balls frequently, but I just find the site easy to navigate through and easy to post with.

What’s your favorite pairing? Favorite genre?

I write only Jasper/Bella, and occasionally I work on my Peter/Bella.  But when it comes to reading new fic, I read a lot of Edward/Bella.  I may write about Jasper and Bella, but when it comes to reading, I like to stick with what could probably be considered the classics now; the stories that had me writing about Jasper and Bella in the first place.

Is there a pairing or genre that you absolutely cannot stand?

Yeah.  Charlie with ANYBODY.  I mean, I've been in this fandom for a while now, I've read the stories so many times, and when you add that in to reading Fanfiction, he reminds me of... Dad. See what I mean?  I can't do the dad thing, though I'm sure Charlie is an awesome lover...that man has a set of balls.

What got you into the Twilight Fandom? It’s all the hot guys, wasn’t it? Don’t lie.

Of course.  Who didn't want more of Edward at the end of book four?  Or who didn't want to see more of the Cullens, or specifically, JASPER?  But it's more than that.  I've seen quite a few writers and readers tell their stories of how they came into the fandom, and it usually went along the lines of how they couldn't put the books down.  The fact is, Stephenie Meyer gave us a great series; but she gave us a series with a lot of discrepancies, errors, and holes in plot that fans and writers could expand upon.  Or take in an entirely different direction. Now, I'm about to be very hypocritical, but it pisses me off sometimes, the way I see how asinine, evolved fans/writers/literary experts downgrade her shit.  I really don't believe a 'perfect' story exists, in any fandom, or in any book.  Stephenie Meyer made me want more, or at least a Breaking Dawn that didn't include demon spawn or fade to blacks.

It was the characters I wanted more of, and just not Edward and Bella.  There were stories to be told about their lives, and alternate endings to be visualized.  But no one who writes Twilight Fanfiction writes it because they hated the series over all.  I personally loved it.  I still read them.  I wish more people would read them instead of taking their ideas from the damn movies.

What do you find to be the most challenging part about writing your fics?

For me, it's time. I'm involved in a lot now in the read world; where as two years ago, I was completely obsessed and I basically put the rest of my life-and my daughters-on hold. Time I should have spent with her was devoted to writing, or reading, and even blogging.

But I've been doing this on and off for two and half years now.  I take my time.  I've come to expect more out of myself, and I try to do a better job at telling a story.  The downside of that is I can no longer pump out a chapter once or twice a week.  Writing for me has always been difficult, because two years ago, I hadn't done any, at all. Two and half years ago, I didn't give a shit.  I've always sucked at grammar, and I still do.  But I've learned a lot, too.  And I've learned that story telling is multi-dimensional.  You can do just about anything you want.  The other downside is that I'm trying to do too much at one time.  I'm the most unorganized person I know.

Best review you’ve ever received? Worst?

I'm not going there.  Once upon a time I would have.  My best reviews are all those that have reflected on certain passages, and those that have shared how that passage or the dialogue effected them.  My worst reviews are probably from myself. Criticism when handled in a dignified and respectable manner is of the up most importance, and I wish I received more of it. It's what helps me learn from my mistakes.  Once upon a time, I wouldn't hesitate to go off on someone telling me my story was shit, or because they were angry because they thought I was going somewhere I wasn't.  But it's just not worth the headache, or the heartache.   I consider myself now to be very lucky for what reviews I do get, even if it's just an 'awesome!' or 'Great chapter!'  Everyone should consider themselves lucky for any review, and no writer should expect that everyone 'gets' what's going on, or 'understands' their characters. It's not like they're inside your mind, you know?

We're lucky to have people reading our stuff, 'nuff said.  A majority of humanity lacks common sense or just doesn't get it; and if you haven't figured that out, take a look in the goddamn mirror, because at some point, someone is going to think the same thing of you.

How do you get into the zone? What’s your method for getting the creative juices flowing? Dancing around your living room in nothing but a baseball cap, weird shit like that?

I smoke. A lot. And I'm either writing in the wee morning hours, or when the child is in school.  I'm always in my pajamas, too.  And usually I'm in the garage, where I can shoot swallows as they fly in.

Do your friends and family in your real life know about your fanfiction alter-ego?

Yes.  My daughter has slowly been reading Twilight, or I it to her.  Maybe in the future when she's old enough I'll let her read my stuff, but that'll depend on whether or not she wants to. My mother has supplied me with locations and information pertaining to them for my stories, for the exception of TOM.  CM takes place in Idaho, and so does Embrace the Suck, a story I'm hopefully going to start publishing here soon.  I also have an original fic I'm working on that takes place there, so she's been a wealth of information. The whole family though has been wonderful about dealing with my obsession.

What do you look for in a good fanfic?

Good character portrayal is very important, but it's also possible to overdo it.  Really bad grammar irritates the hell out of me, but if the plot is worthy enough, I'll try anything.  I actually don't read that much fanfic these days; unless it's one I've been following for a while.  Between living life and writing, there's just not enough time.  My alert list and to be read list is long, I can only hope I'll be able to get into reading again. Plus I took a break from the fandom, I kind of needed one.

Tell us a bit about yourself…

I'm 24, single, and I have a nice set of fake tits.  I have some junk in my trunk, and a hair-free, tight pussy.  My reddish brown hair hangs down to my waist, and I have a set of lips that could suck the chrome off a Harley.  In my real life, I'm thirty nine, I'm single eight or nine times over, I have high blood pressure, I've lost forty pounds, but I'm still about a 100 pounds overweight.  My tits are just okay, and my hair is now layered quite funkily.

I like to garden, camp, fish, hike, and hunt.  I'm also fixing to relocate next year to Edgewood, New Mexico with the rest of the family.  Iowa sucks ass, it's too fucking cold and it's men suck. Not in a good way.
Anything you’d like to share with us? Married, single? Kids? Covert CIA agent? Alaskan crab fisherman?
I have one daughter, named Jessie. She's 8, and she's great. My kid is smart, and she's got a very good head on her shoulders. It's also very pretty.  I'm a Deadliest Catch die hard, my favorite boat and crew is The Time Bandit, followed closely by the Cornelia Marie, with Josh and Jake.  I miss Phil.  It's just not the same without him.

I wouldn't mind sleeping with an Alaskan Crab Fisherman.  Those boys like fish.

Spill! What’s you guilty pleasure? I promise not to judge you, as long as it isn’t Justin Beiber.

Cream Cheese.  On anything. With anything. Except Ketchup. Eww.

Do you have a favorite published author? Someone that actually has printed novels with a publishing house, like Stephanie Meyer.

I read a lot of drama/thrillers, some sci-fi, and fantasy.  J.R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood is my weakness.  Talk about plot holes and discrepancies. But Ward's writing is for the most part raw, and intriguing. She writes about sex beautifully, and I would love to write a crossover fic with Vishous and Bella.  If she'd just take the leash off...but I also have an immense respect for her when it comes to standing her ground with her relationship to fanfic.

Favorite musical artist? Anything we should definitely check out?

Lady GaGa, Katy Perry, Adele, and Lifehouse.  Lady GaGa and my love for her music is kind of dying as of late.  You don't sing about being Born This Way and use the word retarded when you're describing someone.  Retarded people were born that way, too.   Maybe that's why I thought Judas sucked ass...

Time to spread the love…

Who do you drop everything for, including the urn with your great grandmother inside, and run to the computer when you get an update?

Since I don't read that much right now, I can narrow it down to pretty much just two.  Dia de los Muertos by Stitchcat, and All That I've Got Gabe's POV by BlackWingedGabriel.  Both are good, strong stories where the authors have branched out and have challenged themselves by creating multi-dimensional characters that were either not in the books or mentioned in hindsight.

Do you have an author that you fangirl over? And do you squee? I do. Many times.

A certain Slant of light (she's gone extinct) BlackWingedGabriel, TheRomanticidalEdwardian, RubyWednesday...but I'm a silent squee'er.  These were the authors of the first stories I ever read on Fanfiction.

If you were to break someone into the Twilight Fandom, what fic would you give them to read first?

That's easy.  Someone Else's Memoirs by a certain slant of light.  Probably the most heart-breaking and bittersweet story out there.  After that, it's Heatwave by RubyWednesday.

Can you suggest a fic to be recommended on the blog?

Yes! Here in the Garden of Sin by ooza.  It's a fic for me that works outside the norm.

And now for a bit of fun…

Give a shout out to your team!

Go Hawks!

Stephanie Meyer’s Bella… Strong, independent woman and a role model for all girls, or a sniveling, whiny, spineless twit? And do you that KStew makes a good Bella? Anybody you think could’ve done it better?

Sniveling twit and whiny, but I don't necessarily think as Bella as spineless. When it comes to matters of the heart, yes, but girl had a rough time.  I just wish she would have had the balls to stand up to Edward more, and really let him have it. ...KStew?  See, the movies are just okay for me.  Kstew does a good job, considering the shitty script they give her.

Ever imagine yourself in the place of a character in the fics you read? (It’s the lemons, isn’t it? Naughty naughty!)

Of course!  I'm Bella.  I certainly don't imagine KStew when I'm reading.  Dreaming or visualizing a story is complicated.  When it comes to writing it, I'm always in the guy's heads better than I am with Bella.

Let’s say that your friends and family don’t know that you write fanfiction. You’re at the office, or the family get together, and someone mentions that they’ve be reading this fanfiction online. As you listen to them recount the details of this story, you realize with growing horror that this is your story! How do you react?

I run for the motherfuckin' hills. Chances are I'll cut the bitch when she starts talking about my length problem.

Thank you for participating!

“Dangerous Corporate Liaisons” by Coachlady12

Summer is here my friends, and what better way to kick off the summer than with a nice, cool fic rec! Dangerous Corporate Liaisons by coachlady12 is a hot little story, and not short on the lemons. When playboy Edward runs into hottie Bella in the parking garage of his office building, their first encounter leaves him dazzled.

"Oh, well, I'm sure that someone as important as you would be sorely missed at said meeting," was her sardonic remark. I had to purse my lips to keep the string of profanities that were dying to come out in check. And I could've sworn I heard her murmur, "Stupid fucking prick," under her breath.

She was hell on wheels. Thank God I don't have to come home to her every day. Jesus, the poor bastard she did go home to had to be some pussy-whipped loser if this was her normal way of dealing with men. Cutthroat bitch came to mind and I had to sneer.

I let her hateful little comment go as she got in her car and backed out. That was all I wanted anyway—my fucking space. I wasn't even thinking any other sexual thoughts about her, which was unusual for me. Yeah. She'd definitely doused them with that attitude.

As she backed out of my space, she rolled the passenger window down. I was heading back to my car as she smiled sweetly telling me to have a great day. I pushed my hand through my hair and watched her drive away. I'll never understand women and their mood swings, I thought with a chuckle, shaking my head.

When I got to the thirty-third floor, Tanya, my secretary, handed me the itinerary for the meeting my partner Jasper and I were holding in five minutes. Our company, Masen, Hale and Associates, was making a bid to invest in a start-up that was ready to take off with the right backing. As venture capitalists we had several bids in the wings ready to go at any second.
After quickly going through my mail, I headed to the boardroom.

"Mr. Masen?" Tanya called as I headed out.

"Yeah, Tanya?" I asked, in a hurry to leave.

"There's a Miss Swan on the line for you?"

"Take a message, would you, please? I've got to get to the boardroom," I took off down the hallway to the elevator.

Jasper was already in the boardroom with our prospective business partners when I got there. Mike Newton and Tyler Crowley were trying to get their wholesale liquor company off the ground. Believe it or not, this was one of the rising businesses at this time, and Jasper and I were willing to take a chance every now and then. Also we'd gone to high school with these guys, so we had to at least try to help them.

The meeting went great with our making plans to meet again next week to set things in motion. When I came back to my office, Tanya handed me my messages as I went to my desk to check the market activity online. I shuffled through the messages stopping at one in particular.

Tanya had written, "Miss Bella Swan called and requested that in the future, you install eye-level signs where assigned parking is concerned." She'd also left a number asking me to contact her in regard to the parking space dilemma.

Was this chick serious or was this her idea of flirting? I had no idea, but I found myself chuckling. I'd definitely call her if not only to hear her brazenly smartass comments, but at the very least to get a visual of her smoking hot body as she ranted. Miss Bella Swan had no idea what she was getting herself into.

These two are a spectacularly funny pair, and their witty repartee and funny banter makes you wonder whether they should be dating or at each other’s throat. Edward’s playboy ways and Bella’s admirer cause quite a stir for the couple, but things seemingly work out. Thing get better once Bella learns of his tragic past and why he acts the way he does, and happy times are ahead for the couple. When Edward gets an admirer that takes things too far, going all psycho stalker, problems arise again and nearly break the couple apart for good.

I shall tell no more (mwahaha) so you’re just gonna have to go read this story if you want to know how it all ends! This is a wonderfully written story, with plenty of humor and plenty of yummy lemons in the mix! So take some time out of your day and give this story a read!
So grab a drink and enjoy!

Magic Monday's Featuring dracoaddicted

What up homies?

Hope you’ve had a good week and maybe gotten a start on Bond?

Well, if you need a little something to lighten things up, because I sometimes do, I have a lovely O/S to point you towards this week. It’s short, sweet, fluffy. Exactly what I like with my morning tea whilst crammed into a tin contraption that rattles and rumbles underground and has this horrible habit of stopping whilst underground. I suppose subway cars aren’t really made out of tin, are they? No, I imagine not.

Morning After by dracoaddicted!

Like I said before, this story is sweet and fluffy and just the kind of pick-me-up that we all need sometimes. I honestly would love it if the author would develop this into a multi-chapter fic but, alas, such is life. Cute banter, morning kisses and a shirtless Draco Malfoy. I’m sold.

From the author...

"What would you like to do today, Mrs. Malfoy?" Draco's mouth curved into a suggestive smirk, shortly before leaning over and kissing her neck. D/Hr banter and teasing.

Here’s a taste of the fic...

Draco looked up, "you were saying?"

Hermione could scarcely remember. She turned in his arms to face him.
"Oh! Thank Merlin you're wearing it, how did I miss that?"

Her husband – she was still getting used to the idea of it – arched a brow.
"We're here on our honeymoon and you're concerned about my dress shirt?"

Hermione suppressed a giggle at his scandalized expression. Fully awake now, it was effortless to rile him up. She smiled and spoke with false innocence.

"What? Oh by the way, you promised to show me the library."

As always, leave the author some love and don’t forget to contact me with any recommendations (even if they’re your own story) at alexis.bookbytescorner@gmail.com

Friday Night Slash: Too Much by @Tiffnificent & @Kitty_Cullen

Okay, y'all... I know it's not Friday anymore and I'm a total fail around here but I finally am able to get a rec up.

The other day I was tweeting and asking about this fic that I read a while ago and couldn't remember the title.. then a few days later I was perusing through Tiffaninichole's profile because I was planning on recc'ing one of her slash stories this week and WAAALAH! I found the fic I was looking for! It's called Too Much by tiffaninichole and Kitty Cullen-03 and it was their contribution to the Two is Better Than One Contest where they won Judge's Choice!

It's essentially about Edward who wakes up from a coma thinking that he just woke up from the night before but it's been like a month since his accident. Edward doesn't remember anything and his best friend Jasper is there by his side the whole time, anticipating his every need and being there more than his flaky wife.

He realizes that his marriage is kind of a sham, Rosalie doesn't seem to be too converned with him or his well being... she just cares about the appearance of things and trying to catch Edward up on the gossip he's missed. Then he starts having these dreams about him and Jasper...

Like sex dreams and he's completely freaked out. He goes to talk to Jasper about it and he finds out the details of his history with Jasper...

You really need to read this gem, because it's fantabulous and these two ladies are amazing authors! They suck you in and keep you enthralled and the ending of this piece is NOT what you'd expect, so take a chance and you won't be sorry!

Here's a sneak peek into the one-shot:

XXXXXX

But after having that dream, I didn't think I could put it off any more.

I didn't go back to bed that night, instead watching TV until it was a respectable hour to call someone. Digging out my phone, I dialed his number, not knowing what the fuck to say.

"Hey, Ed, what's up?" he answered, sounding chipper and sun-shiny.

Come to think of it, Jasper always seemed overly excited whenever I called him... but we were best friends, so that was normal.

Right?

"Can I come over? We need to talk," I blurted out, wasting no time with my request.

"Sure, man, uh, come on over."

We talked awkwardly for a few more minutes before hanging up and I immediately went out into the garage to get into my car.

It didn't take long before I was nervously wiping my palms on my jeans and knocking on his door.

"Hey, man. What's up?" His face was pinched with concern as I walked past him into the living room.

I swallowed thickly, not exactly sure how to proceed. "Did… uh… shit, I'm so fucking confused." I started pacing and roughly ran a hand through my hair. "Jas, I had this fucking dream, but it wasn't really a dream. I mean, I don't... I just can't shake it. It was so goddamned real, like it actually fucking happened. I don't even—that's crazy, right?" I laughed dryly.

I felt silly even bringing it up because the idea that that actually happened was fucking bananas. After a silence that lasted too long for my liking, I finally got up the nerve to look at him and felt the blood drain from my face.

His expression told me everything that I needed to know and my eyebrows rose to my hairline. "Please tell me you're joking." I choked.

"Is that all you remember?" His question threw me off.

"What? What does that mean?" I went back to pacing, trying to make sense of what was going on.

"I mean… is that the only thing you remember—that one time?" My head whipped in his direction at his implication.

"It happened more than once?" I staggered back a few steps, my knees almost giving out from under me. This couldn't be happening. What the fuck was going on?

"Edward," Jasper began, walking toward me with his hands up in surrender. "We've been in a relationship for years. But if it makes you feel any better, it wasn't… it wasn't just sex. It never was. I love you… and for a while there, you loved me too."

I fell onto the couch as his words assaulted me and he began pacing the floor with a fury I'd never seen ghosting his eyes.

"God, Edward, your wife treats you like shit! For Christ's sake, she was in salons, throwing shindigs, getting Botox, all while you were in a fuckin' coma!"

He stopped and kneeled in front of me, his eyes pleading as his hands rested on my knees. "What we had was good, Ed. Real good. You have no idea how hard it was when I realized that you'd forgotten everything we had."

I shot off the couch, crossing the room in three steps to get away from him. This was too much. Too fucking much.

"Jasper... I'm not gay." I felt ridiculous for even having to say the words, but from what he had just told me, I thought that minor detail needed a revisit.

He growled and was in my face in an instant, roughly grabbing my face as his eyes pierced into mine. We were both breathing harder than normal, the air charged and thick between us. Before I could say a word, his lips were pressed to mine, hard, needy, desperate. And for a second, I allowed myself to get lost in the way he felt. His chest against mine, his thigh settled between my legs, his hands clutching my shirt, his hot mouth absorbing my groan...

I pushed him away, backing against a wall, shaking my head with wide eyes. "I... I'm not fucking gay," I stuttered.

He curled his lip and took a step back. "You keep telling yourself that, Edward." He looked at me with narrowed eyes before turning and walking away, pushing the door of his bathroom open and slamming it behind him.

I guessed that meant the conversation was over.

XXXXXX

Good, huh? yeah I thought so too! So check it out and leave them some love!

I'm out y'all but I'll check back in next week!

xoxo
Mel

Saturday Sit-Down with rmhale!

Welcome to another Saturday Sit-Down with one of my all time favourite women of the fandom, rmhale!. I love this girl, she is a beautiful person inside and out and one day I will invade her state and make her spend copious amounts of time with me. In the mean time, check out her interview!

Let’s start off with the basics…

What’s your penname? rmhale

Where do you post most often? Fanfiction.net

What’s your favorite pairing? Harry/Draco and Edward/Jasper

Favorite genre? Depends on my mood, I love Hurt/Comfort.

Is there a pairing or genre that you absolutely cannot stand? I don’t like reading Edward and Bella. If I am reading het I can read Jasper and Bella with no problem, but in my mind, she needed a man like Jasper to make her feel passion.

What got you into the Twilight Fandom? It’s all the hot guys, wasn’t it? Don’t lie.

Can I admit this here? I was pissed at the lack of sex in Twilight and Googled the words “Edward”, “Bella” and “Fucking”. That led me into the world of fanfic and I never looked back. Once I read my first slash story, Over the Top, I haven’t read anything since.

What do you find to be the most challenging part about writing your fics?
Honestly, it is staying inspired. I have a lot going on in my life and while I love to have writing as an outlet, sometimes it is also a burden when I feel I am not posting at regular intervals. I hate letting people down but I can’t make the words come when they don’t want to.

Best review you’ve ever received? Worst? I can’t pick a best one; that would be too hard. And for a bad review, most of the time I get PM’s when people have a problem with me.

How do you get into the zone? I turn off the lights, turn on Vanessa Mae, close my eyes and type what I see.

What’s your method for getting the creative juices flowing? I don’t have a method, when the words come I try my hardest to get them down.

Dancing around your living room in nothing but a baseball cap, weird shit like that? HA! No way…

Do your friends and family in your real life know about your fanfiction alter-ego? I have a very conservative family and they were told by someone in my life and the fallout was not a fun time for me. I come from a long line of staunch Republicans and I fell very far from that tree.

What do you look for in a good fanfic? A good summary first and foremost, a realistic plot and I love most where the boys were friends first and then became more.

Tell us a bit about yourself…

Anything you’d like to share with us? Married, single? Kids? Covert CIA agent? Alaskan crab fisherman? Let’s see, hmmmmm. I am married to the most amazing man in the world that has the libido of a teenage boy and I will never complain about that. We have two kids, he fully supports what I do and while I wish I was something cool like a spy…never mind, just keep thinking I am.

Spill! What’s you guilty pleasure? I promise not to judge you, as long as it isn’t Justin Beiber.

Oh fuck…porn! Lots of pretty boy porn and, ummmmmm Cross Gen Fic.

Do you have a favorite published author? Someone that actually has printed novels with a publishing house, like Stephanie Meyer.

My favorite author of all is Edgar Allen Poe.

Favorite musical artist? Anything we should definitely check out?

I don’t have a favorite, I love so many.

Time to spread the love…

Who do you drop everything for, including the urn with your great grandmother inside, and run to the computer when you get an update?

Beautiful Figment, SavannahVee and Lomonaaeren

Do you have an author that you fangirl over? And do you squee? I do. Many times.

I really used to until I got to know them all and found out they are just like me.

If you were to break someone into the Twilight Fandom, what fic would you give them to read first?

That is a hard one, because when someone wants an intro I ask many questions to find out what they like and dislike and make a suggestion from there.

Can you suggest a fic to be recommended on the blog?

There are a few I rec to almost anyone who asks. I loved with all my heart Say Something Else by vampireisthenewblack and Once We Were Kings by Sweetp-1 and All My Secrets by venisenvy. She wrote it for me for FGB.

And now for a bit of fun…

Give a shout out to your team!

My team? Like Team Parka Peen? Or the Mavericks? I love them both.

Stephanie Meyer’s Bella… Strong, independent woman and a role model for all girls, or a sniveling, whiny, spineless twit? And do you think that KStew makes a good Bella? Anybody you think could’ve done it better?

Do I find Bella a good role model as written in Twilight? No, not at all. I am too independent to ever understand the depth of her obsession with Edward.

Ever imagine yourself in the place of a character in the fics you read? (It’s the lemons, isn’t it? Naughty naughty!)

Hell yes! I imagine myself in the middle of an Edward and Jasper sandwich quite often.

Let’s say that your friends and family don’t know that you write fanfiction. You’re at the office, or the family get together, and someone mentions that they’ve be reading this fanfiction online. As you listen to them recount the details of this story, you realize with growing horror that this is your story! How do you react?

Oh, being that I like to keep that part of my life private I would definitely play the fool.

Be sure to check out rmhale's fic and leave her some love!

“Don’t Take the Girl” by SparklingWand

I’m thoroughly enjoying my time off, and thought I should give you all another recommendation to check out. This week I have a sweet little niblet for you to sink your teeth into. Don’t Take the Girl by SparklingWand is loosely based on the song by Tim McGraw. When Charlie brings Edward along on his and Bella’s fishing trip, she is less than pleased. But as the trip progresses, they go from enemies to friends.

She felt a sense of urgency to get the cooler put together quickly and get back to the Cullens before they left. She grabbed the fish with the labels that read Edward. She was grateful to see Charlie didn't label any other fish because she grabbed about ten more filets and shoved them into the cooler. She wanted Edward to be able to brag.

The cooler was stuffed, and she closed it up. Rather than running through the house, she opened the garage door to reach the drive way immediately.

"Wait! Edward! Please wait!"

They were all in the car, and Edward looked so forlorn. Bella couldn't understand why he looked so sad. It wasn't until he had seen her that his face lit up. They smiled at each other, and he informed his father to stop the car.

Edward jumped out and ran towards Bella.

"I thought you weren't going to say goodbye." He smiled his sweet toothless smile.

"I wouldn't let you leave without saying goodbye. I just didn't want you to leave without your fish. You did so good today; I just figured you would want them to eat."

She handed him and cooler. He took and it and opened it. He realized that there was a considerable amount of fish in there.

"Bella, I didn't catch all these."

"No, but I figured you could use a few more to make a big fish fry. We have loads in the freezer."

"Thank you," he whispered shyly.

"You're welcome and thank you."

"For what?"

"For becoming my friend."

With that, they bid their farewells and made promises for future play dates and playground dates. Edward got back into the car, and the Cullens left.

That night, Bella said her nightly prayers with Charlie as she did every night, but tonight her prayers were slightly altered.

She and Charlie knelt beside her bed. She folded her hands and began to pray,

"God, bless Mommy and Daddy. Thank You so much for giving them to me. You couldn't have given me a better Mommy and Daddy. Thank You for all I have in my life. Thank You for Jake and Alice."

Bella paused and Charlie was about to say "Amen" when she continued her prayer.

"And dear God, thank You for my new friend, Edward. He may be a boy, but thank You, God, for opening my eyes to him. I know that You brought him to me for a reason and whatever that reason is, I'm listening. Amen."

Charlie was surprised by his daughter's prayer. She always talked more like an adult than a child, but this was not the prayer of a child. This was the prayer of a woman, and it brought a tear to his eye. His little girl was only eight, but she was growing up and seeing the world.
Charlie whispered, "Amen."

"All right, sweetheart, up in the bed. I'll send your Mother in to kiss you goodnight."
He tucked her in and kissed her forehead.

"Good night, baby girl."

"Night, Daddy."

Charlie turned the light off and was about to close Bella's door when she heard his daughter call his name.

"Daddy?'

"Yes, sweetheart?"

"Can Edward go fishing with us again next week?"

"You bet, baby doll. But what about Jake and Billy? You said we all wouldn't fit."

"I'm little. We can make room."

Charlie smiled. "Okay. I'll talk to Carlisle next week and set everything up. Now go to sleep."
Bella squealed and then immediately closed her eyes so Charlie wouldn't have the chance to change is his mind.

That was the first night she dreamt of Edward Cullen.

After their first trip together, the pair becomes inseparable, spending most of their time together. The story progresses through their life, from childhood, through the awkward years of adolescence and into adulthood. When a date ends in a stick-up, Edward and Bella are brought closer together, but this isn’t the last time they have to deal with the people that held them at gunpoint.

Throughout the story these two have to deal with the hardships that face them. Through it all, Edward and Bella have each other and their close friends to help each other out when the going gets tough. This story is a great story for anyone that needs to satisfy their love story fix.

So grab a drink and enjoy!

Magic Monday's Featuring Anna Fugazzi!

G’day folks! Today I bring you one of my favourite multi-chapter HP/DM fics of all time. OF ALL TIME!

Bond by AnnaFugazzi

What I love the most about this fic is that I wasn’t quite sure what was going to happen until the very end, and even then, I was teetering on the edge of doubt. As much as I love your traditional, “Oh, they’re gonna end up together” fics, I’m doubly in love with one that keeps me on the edge of my seat. This is definitely one of them. I warn you, there’s angst in this bad boy, but there’s also love and some fucking hawt as hell sex scenes. All I have to say to you is... Go, Go Gryffindor!

From the author...

Yet another one of those Harry And Draco Are Forced To Be Together By Something Beyond Their Control And Then Stuff Happens Leading To Twoo Wuv stories. Because every HD writer has to write at least one. Finished

Here’s a taste of the fic...

Oh, god. He closed his eyes tightly, willing himself back to sleep, desperately hoping he could somehow make whatever he'd been dreaming about real, and this morning's reality a nightmare only.

He opened his eyes again. No. No such luck.

He looked over at the next bed. Potter was still asleep, his face peaceful and relaxed, and Draco was seized with an almost overwhelming urge to hit him. Hard. For daring to look so untroubled when here they were, in the hospital, facing the first day of the rest of their lives bloody well shackled together.

Draco turned his back to Potter, hoping he could convince himself that he was just in the hospital due to a Quidditch injury. Pushed that thought away, because that made him think about Quidditch and that was too painful to deal with first thing in the morning. Unfortunately, just about everything else that came to mind was also too painful to deal with first thing in the morning.

And it was odd, he thought, how his mind couldn't seem to decide between frantically skittering away from the memory of Pomfrey's information session last night, and rehashing it in excruciating detail. Especially the part about eventually needing to touch one another - and Draco's mouth twisted in disgust, as he felt absolutely no desire to touch Potter right now in any way other than violently. But apparently they'd feel compelled to touch, casually at first, then for comfort, and then, eventually, in a sexual manner. Draco grimaced at that thought too. Not a good image, that one. Not that touching another boy that way was all that disgusting a concept, but Harry Potter of all people. God, how revolting. Only marginally better than touching a Mudblood.

Draco sighed and closed his eyes again. It could have been worse, he tried to tell himself. He could have walked past that bloody door arguing with Hermione Granger.
Actually, no. There wasn't any way of making this any better. Granger would've been awful and a horrible embarrassment to the pure-blooded Malfoy family, but in the end she was just a Mudblood. As long as Draco didn't have children with her (and he would have made sure he didn't) she would've been tolerable. She wasn't the enemy of their family's Lord.

Draco couldn't imagine how their family would survive this blow. The Dark Lord surely wouldn't feel he could trust Lucius' loyalty to remain unshakeable. Maybe, in a few years, when the spell had worn down a little and the bond was less raw, it would be possible for Draco to survive with few ill effects once Voldemort vanquished Potter. But... the confrontation was supposed to happen soon. And Voldemort would surely not totally trust a man who knew that his only son might die if Potter was killed or injured.

So much for Father's position as Voldemort's right-hand man.

God, this was so utterly horrible.

As always, if you enjoyed the fic be sure to leave the author some love! Any and all recommendations can be sent to alexis.bookbytescorner@gmail.com

Saturday Sit-Down with @SingleStrand

Mel here! Time for another Sit Down Saturday and this week I’m bringing you a slash author I discovered and have absolutely loved ever since! She’s written such amazing fics as: Hard, Dirty Words, I Slapped a Brat (and I Liked It), and What Happens in Zurich, a collab fic with SadTomato. Check them all out, they are amazing!

Let’s start off with the basics…

What’s your penname?

SingleStrand

Where do you post most often?

Fanfiction.net

What’s your favorite pairing? Favorite genre?

Hmm…Edward/Riley is a good one. My fave genre right now is slash romance, but I do love a good E/B if it’s unique and not horribly angsty.

Is there a pairing or genre that you absolutely cannot stand?

I can’t read Seth. Tried and tried and tried … he’s that 15 year old kid to me no matter what light an author tries to paint him in. Sorry!

What got you into the Twilight Fandom? It’s all the hot guys, wasn’t it? Don’t lie.

Get this – my MIL. That’s right. My Mother in Law was reading Twilight on a road trip vacation with them. After a day in the car with Mr Strand’s entire family, I decided I’d read anything to tune them out. Turns out Twilight was pretty awesome. I read the entire series that week.

What do you find to be the most challenging part about writing your fics?

I’d say keeping myself true to the story I have wanted to tell from the beginning and not letting reviews influence that. It’s so flattering to be reviewed, but sometimes it makes me second guess where I’m going with these boys, and I don’t want that.

Best review you’ve ever received? Worst?

Oh gosh, I get tons of sweet reviews. The best ones are when I start recognizing names of people because they review every chapter. That’s sweet. I don’t think I’ve had a bad one yet.

How do you get into the zone? What’s your method for getting the creative juices flowing?
Dancing around your living room in nothing but a baseball cap, weird shit like that?

Nothing gets me in the zone like a good gchat with sadtomato. That girl and I have talked about absolutely everything on gchat. EVERYTHING.

Do your friends and family in your real life know about your fanfiction alter-ego?

Friends, yes. Family, no. They just know I met a bunch of really cool girls online on some ‘blog thing’.

What do you look for in a good fanfic?

I look for something that is well-betaed, a relatively unique plot, has some wit, some drama, little angst, and I love an author that gets involved. I want to read something written by someone that is accessible – replies to reviews, is on Twitter, likes to talk, etc.

Tell us a bit about yourself…

Anything you’d like to share with us? Married, single? Kids? Covert CIA agent? Alaskan crab fisherman?

I’m married to MrS and we have one child, the adorable 7 month old bbC. We’re currently living in my parents’ basement while we wait for our house to sell so we can relocate fully to Kansas City.

Spill! What’s you guilty pleasure? I promise not to judge you, as long as it isn’t Justin Bieber.

Guilty pleasure would probably be Wizards of Waverly Place. I say I turn it on because C likes it…but I love every episode. J

Do you have a favorite published author? Someone that actually has printed novels with a publishing house, like Stephanie Meyer.

Hmm. Not really? I can’t think of anyone I would drop everything to go buy the current book of the day it comes out.

Favorite musical artist? Anything we should definitely check out?

My musical interests are wayyy varied. I can listen to Mumford and Sons in one minute, Adele in the next, and Lil Wayne the rest of the day. My favorites are Dave Matthews Band and Jay-Z though. Always.

Time to spread the love…

Who do you drop everything for, including the urn with your great grandmother inside, and run to the computer when you get an update?

The Diva Diaries by KiyaRaven and Expectations and Other Moving Pieces by chrometurtle. I don't have any CURRENT multi-chap slash owning me right now. Mostly rereading good completed ones and one shots. There are some damn good slash one shots out right now

Do you have an author that you fangirl over? And do you squee? I do. Many times.
I used to fangirl a lot more than I do now. We’re all just regular people know what I mean? But I’d have to say that I squeed when theladyingrey42 reviewed Dirty Words and back when Chicklette was pimping Hard all over Twitter before I could tell anyone I had written it. That was a happy day!

If you were to break someone into the Twilight Fandom, what fic would you give them to read first?

I would definitely recommend something vamp, like Lola’s trilogy or Creature of Habit. Reading AH takes some getting used to for some people.

Can you suggest a fic to be recommended on the blog?

I would totally recommend a rec post of some contest entries. There are so many writers that I found through their entries to the Dirty Talking Jasper contest and the Eurofornication contest. And now there's the Vamp Slash contest and the Plot my Bunnies contest. Seriously good stuff written by some awesome ladies.

And now for a bit of fun…

Give a shout out to your team!

Love and hugs to MeteorMuse for always, always challenging my comma placement. I feel like I can’t write a thing without her checking it over now! And to sadtomato and TippyL for always telling me when something is good or if it needs more smut. I love you all!

Stephanie Meyer’s Bella… Strong, independent woman and a role model for all girls, or a sniveling, whiny, spineless twit? And do you that KStew makes a good Bella? Anybody you think could’ve done it better?

I think KStew has done the best anyone could do with the scripts she is given. Bella is … not the daughter I would want my daughter to look up to. I don’t know how to describe her other than needy in the books. The movies have tried to do a better job of making her appear to have her own thoughts and wants.

Ever imagine yourself in the place of a character in the fics you read? (It’s the lemons, isn’t it? Naughty naughty!)

Umm, I totally put myself into mjinaspen’s RME Bella. Who wouldn’t want the kind of sex her Edward gives?! But with most of my favorites, I just feel like someone curled up in an armchair in the corner of the room watching.

Let’s say that your friends and family don’t know that you write fanfiction. You’re at the office, or the family get together, and someone mentions that they’ve be reading this fanfiction online. As you listen to them recount the details of this story, you realize with growing horror that this is your story! How do you react?

I definitely react by first spitting out my drink and secondly going to the bathroom to put on a calm face. I could NEVER let my family know I write about Twilight boys that love other Twilight boys. They would in general not be supportive of fic writing as a hobby.

Thank you for participating!
